Over the last five years I have been visiting this restaurant occasionally. So I did last weekend. This time disappointed. I think it is a bit strange to have a supplement price of 10 euros for one of the starters in a gourmand menu of 35 euro. In this case the Foie gras starter. Three small square pieces of Foi gras. The main course sole was okay although the texture of the sole was somewhat weak. It was in my opinion also not solea solea but probably another cheaper sole species. The dessert was made without any fantasy and had not an outspoken taste. Only very sweet. Approx 40% of the small glass of the aperitif Pineaut de Charente was filled with ice. The wine list and the chosen was excellent. There is an unbalance between the price for the food and the quality served. Last remark: cleaning a table besides ours by spraying the cleaning agent is not the way it should. I want to taste the food and not the cleaning agent.
This restaurant is a must if you are around Argentat! The sunny terrace behind the simple street appearance is a delight. The food were delicious, the adjective doesn't pay justice though. It was well thought, well performed and well presented, a perfect piece of music.The staff are welcoming and the service was impeccable.Do recommend!
We had dinner here with another couple, food was beautifully presented and very tasty. The wine list was very good. As we were there in January we had the restaurant to ourselves and we were not rushed at all. Would highly recommend for couples. Be prepared to spend a little extra.. As it is fine dining.
Surprisingly sophisticated & very cheap set lunch menu. 20E is a complete bargain for fine dining. Classy linen, light airy room & decent bathrooms as well. A la carte available but stick to menu du jour & you will not be disappointed. Argentat lovely in itself, but worth the trip just to have lunch.
