Le Shalimar - Réserver une table

Having been five weeks in south of France, the need for an indian on the way home was pretty pressing. Stopping near Orléans for our overnight rest, the Shalimar at Olivet was drawn to our attention by the nearby Kyriad hotel receptionist. It's an unusual arrangement, as it's prix fixe buffet, lunchtime and evenings, and when we were welcomed to its airy and hospitable interior we felt very encouraged. Nevertheless (néanmoins), scrutinising the buffet selection, we saw lots of fish, quite a lot of meat, but very few vegetarian options. The maitre d', however, a charming young guy called Paul, was not prepared for us to be deterred and promised that the chef would rustle up additional spinach and paneer and dall dishes for us. This was the clincher. With a couple of chiled Indian beers from the U.K. provided, fresh nans, and (now!) a great range to explore, we had a most enjoyable meal. All the staff, including the gracious and unobtrusive waitresses were courteous, attentive and unobtrusive - but it was Paul who secured our business, and the well-deserved promise of this very endorsing and positive review.

A well stocked serve yourself buffet with plenty of choice for vegetarians, looked attractive and smelt wonderful. Appears to be a very popular place so recommend making a reservation if you don't want to be disappointed. Great lunchtime price of 11€80 per person,impossible to prepare and serve at home for this price, drinks extra but correctly priced and comparative with other restaurants. Warm welcome, attentive and very polite staff. Started with salad followed by onion bhaji, deep fried aubergine, deep fried potatoes, vegetable samosas, potatoes and cauliflower curry, lentil and courgette curry, aubergine curry, spinach with Indian cheese, curried mixed vegetables, rice and choice of sauces/dips. A delicious naan bread filled with warm cheese served at table. Not too interested in desserts in general as I prefer savoury to sweet but tried the fresh fruit salad which was extremely tasty. Comfortable, relaxed atmosphere, will go again as we enjoyed it very much.

Not bad. It's a buffet of indian food (rice, heavy meal) so make sure of an empty stomach. Affordable price for a various kind of meal..The owner is really kind.

Très bon buffet indien ! Quel plaisir de venir à Shalimar, qui est à Orleans depuis 10 ans. L'accueil est chaud et les plats sont frais. Je recommande

Accueil très chaleureux et convivial tous les plats sont très bons et préparé le jour même je recommande vivement un moment très agréable
