Just came out of that bar a vins. Judging from the reviews, we were honestly expecting something else. The experience was less than average. The wine (freezing cold saint Nicolas de Bourgueil was probably worth less than a fiver, and the cheese and charcuterie platter...came straight from a supermarket. As for the dessert (riz au lait , they did not even hide the fact that it wasn't homemade (supermarket pot... . So, please avoid that place, unless what you are only after is a beer on a nice terrace overlooking the port. The waiter (a nice chap by the way really looked like he was sorry to have to serve that food, particularly at that price.
Nous avons débarqué après une balade à Saint-Martin par un beau temps et avons été ravis de trouver une table vide à l'avant de ce petit coin de paradis du vin avec vue sur le port. Le service était particulièrement charmant et nous étions tellement contents de trouver quelque chose pour mon partenaire végétarien......non simplement sur une île dédiée aux fruits de mer ! La salade César (sans poulet) était vraiment, vraiment bonne. et ma salade avec poulet et anchois était fabuleuse. et le vin local de l'île de Ré a été vivement recommandée.
I went here directed by my host in order to buy one of their selected wine, and I finally stayed to enjoy a white wine glass with some delicious slices of pork sausage. I then discovered that the place serves a delicious breakfast in the...early morning (I like to walk in the streets at first light) and was surprised to share this moment with many locals and celebrities who own residences in the beautiful Ars en Ré and appreciate the place just before the crowd arrives. Great service and fine food. Thank you.
We visited here for the day, as we were staying in La Rochelle. We parked the car in the main square and wandered down to the quay side. It was a beautiful sunny day with a handful of eateries open for business. We chose this...one as the menu looked appealing. We both had a salad, and a glass of Rose. About €40 all up. Wait staff were attentive and efficient. One being the owner who was buzzing around with a smile on his face. Many outdoor tables to enjoy the sun and people passing by.
Au port, c'est une sensation complètement différente du village principal. C'est une zone purement touristique. C'est magnifique de voir comment les gens sont prêts à partir en balade sur leurs bateaux. C'est toujours très animé, mais avec une ambiance entièrement française.
