Je viens de vérifier en ligne si le Restaurant Le Viviera à Mareuil Sur Lay avait survécu après la pandémie et je suis ravi de voir que c'est le cas. J'ai lu certaines critiques sur ce restaurant et j'ai trouvé certaines d'entre elles totalement injustes, les pizzas sont de très bonne qualité. Les propriétaires sont très sympathiques et le service est excellent. Ma femme et moi avons déjà fréquenté ce restaurant à plusieurs reprises et nous continuerons de le faire lorsque nous serons dans la région. Je le recommande vivement. Je viens de lire les critiques sur Le Viviera et je suis confus. Bien que je ne puisse pas commenter le débat sur qui a cassé quoi, je peux soutenir d'autres commentaires en disant que, à mon avis, à la fois la nourriture et le personnel sont super. Je ne comprends pas le commentaire selon lequel nous avons eu un repas français moyen - le Viviera est un endroit de pizza et de pâtes, pas français local/régional, contrairement à l'avis il y a beaucoup de restaurants français dans la région. The inglenook fireplace that you are talking about measures 2.5m high 1.5m wide with Inset woodburning stove, used in the winter. Impossible not see. If you have unruly people in your party of 13 (as was noted at the time). Unruly behaviour caused an incident amongst yourselves. It is very difficult to smash into an inglenook stove and break toughened fireproof glass by accident. British people like yourselves are going abroad and giving us a very bad name. You and your party then, as we say in England did a runner to avoid paying for damage done by your party when the owner went upstairs to retrieve relative paperwork. I,ve just read the reviews on Le Viviera and I,m confused. Whilst not able to comment on the who broke what debate I am able to support other comments and say in my opinion both the food and the staff are super.I don,t understand the comment "we had an average French meal" the Viviera is a pizza and pasta place not local/regional French,contrary to the review there are plenty of French restaurants in the area.I,ve lived here for over ten years and treat the Viviera as I would any " the local" Italian restaurant back in UK and in that context it does not warrent the recent review. Our visit did not go well. One of our party tripped over a hidden fireplace hearth and fell onto the wood burning stove, unfortunately breaking the glass and getting a cut that needed a trip to hospital for 12 stitches. I tell this story because the staff's (owner?) reaction was to show no interest in the injured party at all but to stare in shock at the broken glass and then tell us we had to pay for it - we didn't pay. Those of us that stayed had an average French meal, pizzas, steak, duck, chicken with chips. All served by a friendly waitress. The restaurant choices are limited in town so if you must go then don't expect too much. We shall not return!
This was the only restaurant open on a monday night in the summer season. The kids had the childrens menu which had a choice of 3 mains and desert for 8.5 euros. Mum had the salmon tagliatelle and dad had the plate of cold meats to start and the rump steak with pepper sauce avec frites which was excellent. We also tried the local rose wine which was also excellent.
