"We had a very nice and relaxing lunch in L'Embarcadère. Great seafood and good wine. The service was also good. Nice location in the central Bordeaux. The only slight downside was that when we booked the table through TheFork we were told that we are entitled to a 30% discount from the food. However, in the restaurant we were told that the promotion was no longer available. How typical!"

We had an early dinner at this restaurant. I had the homemade fish soup and my husband the oysters followed by a tasty lobster with homemade mayonnaise, which was very, very nice. The bread, which the restaurant gets from a local bakery, was absolutely memorable. It wasn't white but not whole wheat either...nice and crunchy on the outside and soft in the inside. We had some Tariquet vine, my husband the sweet (moelleux) version and I the dry one. The meal really hit the spot. In Bordeaux I really recommend visiting the water mirror right beside the Garonne, especially on a hot day. There was such a nice atmosphere and so many people playing in the water. We also visited the Quinconces place and the fountain which was spectacular. On the way back from the restaurant we walked along rue St. Catherine which ended up in front of the Grand Theatre in Bordeaux. Members of a dance group invited passersby to dance with them to southern swing. We sat on the steps and watched. Absolutely wonderful evening. We stayed in the 4 soeurs (4 sisters) hotel. Would recommend it without hesitation.

I happened upon this restaurant wandering around the bustling streets of Bordeaux on a busy Friday night. This is mainly seafood restaurant. They appear to specialise in large platters of shell fish. I seen a waitress walk by with a very large boat shaped vessel filled with molluscs. Very impressive. I had the Dublin bay prawns, served with a herb mayonnaise. They were succulent and sweet. That was followed by a filet of cod baked in a tomato sauce and covered by a potato galette. The galette was brown and crunchy at the edges. It was very tasty. Unfortunately, they were very busy and there was a very long delay between starters and the main. The waitress who gave me the bill and the waitress that served my main course did apologise but the wait was too long. However, I was not in a rush and the food and wine were very good.

Looking around for a local restaurant we stumbled across this great little restaurant, which serves mainly fish. As the temperature was still in the high 20's we ate outdoors, but their is air conditioned seating availableAfter a starter of melon and goats cheese we shared two sea food platters. They were delivered in a small boat on a bed of seaweed! The food was excellent but we couldn't eat it all, which was a shame as the desserts looked yummySat next to a charming French/Chinese couple so we had good conversation and good food

Lovely seafood restaurant in a back street in Bordeaux old town. Amazing platters of fruits de mer are the stars - some so big they come in a boat - but they also have meaty choices. I had a very good duck breast. Starter of prawns were some of the sweetest and freshest I've ever eaten. Excellent wine to accompany and a buzzy, happy atmosphere. Lots of locals eating there too which is always a good sign.
