Les Caudalies - Réserver une table

For a birthday I was investigating the hotels and restaurants of the beautiful Jura region and found the web site of Caudalies. For that particular Monday evening it offered a "Menu gastronomique" and a night inthe hotel, so I booked. I immediately got a confirmation of my reservation on the web site and another confirmation by e-mail, they both listed the prices of the opulent menu.When I had a look at the printer version of the reservation I should have been on the alert: it had obviously been designed by a hopeless beginner: contrary to all other confirmations on this planet it contained no maps, no directions, no street name, even the word "Arbois" was absent. It listed myphone number and my e-mail address, but their number and address were missing. I was not suspicious enough and went on to buy the necessary train tickets - they were expensive and partially non-refundable. So I was trapped.Two hours after the confirmation e-mail I got a second e-mail, it told me that the restaurant was closed every Monday! That means they offer contracts and then accept and confirm them twice although they know exactly that they will not be able to fulfill them. An excuse? Not really. A list of open restaurants nearby, possibly with their phone numbers? Of course not.After my protest letter I got an explanation. It was lengthy (in words, not in content) and it basically implied that the untrue info on their offer and their two confirmations have to be accepted because they were created automatically by a computer program and it was too difficult a task to adapt it to such exotic and unusual circumstances as Monday evenings. I havedesigned and written many web sites myself and I can confirm that suchflexibility is easy, almost a triviality.So if you plan a birthday evening with a "Menu gastronomique" at Caudalies you better buy some sandwiches. And if you plan an excursion into the wonderful surroundings of Arbois in the afternoon, then you better forget that, they informed me that check-in is possible between 4 pm and 7 pm only. Needless to say that I was informed only after my booking and not before.I was lucky: After some hard work I found another hotel and a restaurant in the Arbois area and could cancel the hopelessly unprofessional Caudalies.

Nous sommes venus en famille passer une soirée dans ce superbe restaurant sur les conseils d'un amis vignerons de la région.Outre la qualité de l'accueil et du service en général, nous avons passé un excellent moment gastronomique également grâce à la présence attentionné et passionnante de Philippe Troussard.Ce chef sommelier nous a fait voyager dans les vignobles du monde et nous a fait partager sa passion. Il nous a permis d'accompagner les très beaux plats avec bonheur avec des vins judicieusement choisis et adaptés en plus aux gouts de chaque convive quand ce fut nécessaire.Philippe partage la salle avec son père Claude qui nous a prodigué ses services d'agréable manière.Belle cuisine fine et raffinée, concoctée par "la Chef" Nadine, femme de Claude...donc il s'agit bien là d'une passion familiale qui donne un très joli cocktail de grande qualité, chaleureux et agréable.

Tant par la qualité de l'accueil, des plats ainsi que du cadre nous avons passé une superbe soirée.L'inventivité, la finesse sont remarquables dignes d'un étoilé. La carte des vins incroyable, est élaborée par un jeune MOF en sommelerie.Le service est fluide, attentif.Et les prix restent raisonnables compte tenu du contexte.

C'est la deuxième fois que nous y mangeons avec mon épouse et vraiment j'y retournerai: cuisine superbe service impeccable menu dégustation très goûteux avec le bonus du choix des vins choisi et servis par un meilleur ouvrier de France : un accord parfait. Allez y avant que la notoriété soit trop grande.

hôtel de standing, très agréablement aménagé. Personnel charmant. Gastronomie de haut vol (gare à l ligne !). Seul bémol : l'ensemble est situé sur une rue très passante, donc bruyante.
