It is with regret I write this review. I write it to spare others our surprise and disappointment. After a wonderful visit ito Vaux in September 2016 my husband and I planned a return visit in May being sure to be in Paris on a Saturday night so we could partake in the candlelight dinner. What we thought would be the highlight of our London Paris trip turned out to be our biggest disappointment, Who could imagine that a three course meal in a fine French dining establishment could be completed in 43 minutes? The service was rude and hurried. The food ordinary and expensive for what was received. We were seated in the larger of two inside rooms with no atmosphere. Think large catering hall. The entire experience reminded us of more a service at a wedding factory banquet or a luncheon served at a corporate sales meeting event. Our food order (How would you like your beef cooked? was taken and placed before we ordered wine. In hindsight that should have been clue to what was to come. Our dessert was thrown at us while we still had wine in our glasses. Not a fine dining experience. On a positive note, the chateau and grounds are lovely in the candlelight and the fireworks were lovely if brief 10 minutes. What I recommend and would do if we return is to dine at Le Relais de l 'Ecureuil where the staff is delightful and the food selection and preparation is first rate and where you can then sit outside and dine at a lovely picnic table and enjoy the beautiful surroundings in a relaxed and unhurried atmosphere. It was our lunch experience here in September that made us think the candlelight dinner would really be something special.
