We 've been traveling to the Dordogne for a couple of years because it 's beautiful everywhere and we 've been joking you can not find a single bad restaurant anywhere. Until our experience at Les Flots Bleus. We drove out of our way for a little more upscale experience because we were celebrating and planned to go all out. We ordered an apéritif, the Gourmand menu, mineral water and a bottle of wine. I explained what kind of wine we wanted: full bodied and oaky. Unfortunately the wine we got was very acidic/citrusy/fruity (the Bastide de Blacailloux Miraia blanc . We told the waiter and he kindly let us try another (Chateau L ' Hospital, Graves Blanc . Much better (oaky in the nose , but again high in acid and minerals, which we do not like, especially with the food we ordered. He offered to let us try two other wines. They do not serve wines by the glass, so they had to open it for us. I felt bad, so I told the waiter he could just bring us a glass of house rosé, the saver option. I assumed our taste in whites and that of their sommelier just wasn 't a match, no big deal and we certainly did not want to cause problems. This is when a lady, we presume the manager or owner, came to our table very angry. They wouldn 't open another bottle of wine for us. I told her I understand, but the wine was clashing with the food. She said the wine was good and that 's that. Her attitude was incredibly rude, we felt disrespected. Maybe because we are younger (30+ or only my partner speaks French? The wine wasn 't awful, but it wasn 't what I described/ordered or what matched with our food. I asked for the wine list and we decided on a bottle of Champagne to try and turn the night around. Unfortunately, nobody came back to our table. This whole time our first course was sitting in front of us almost untouched because of waiting to pair it with wine. Side note: it was a surprisingly mediocre dish which normally is a specialty in the area. We slowly started getting ready to leave (for the first time ever in our lives , all the while trying to get someone to our table, but it wasn 't until we were already standing with our coats on that the lady asked us to follow her. She made us pay for the first courses (after just a few bites . We left hungry while it was raining, but we were relieved to be away from that table.

We went to this restaurant on account of good reviews on TripAdvisor, should have looked better, most are old reviews. Food was terrible and way to expensive. We tried to send back several plates, but the hostess wouldn’t listen and got mad with us, even though we tried to explain that (for example) my risotto was like rice porridge and the fish had no taste at all. The duckbrest looked and tasted like it had not seen a pan/oven, the skin was not rendered out and it tasted like it had been microwaved. I can go on and in how every dish was bad, but you get the picture. Way to overpriced and really bad service. Rather go to Les Voyageurs to eat, half the price and really good food. They do know how to cook a duck, several ways!!

Prett unimpressed, actually. Menu very small and unappealing. We were a group of 4 and one child. We all had to alter the set gourmand menu as nobody could find a combination we liked. My foie gras was extremely dull. Wife 's Esturgeon Fume was uninspiring. Main courses forgettable. The waitress was hopeless, couldn 't speak English or French! (Was Ukrainian I think). When the other waiter came to take our order, was distinctly hassled ; questions not welcomed. Too much salt in all the food. Nothing particularly excellent. Disappointing and not recommended, especially as pretty expensive... Also the bread was extremely average, nothing special at all supermarket standard...

Beautifully set along the Dordogne banks across from the Church of the penitents, we enjoyed a lovely dinner with well prepared starter and entree. Particularly flavorful was tuna on a bed of pumpkin puree. The bread basket was full of great choices, and the wine list, extensive for bottle selection, was also great for individual glasses. It was wonderful to pair a Condrieu with tuna and a Pomerol with Bouef. Dessert of berries and white chocolate mousse was a great finish
