My husband & I stayed in Hotel L'Arc en Ciel & had the opportunity to eat in this restaurant which is adjacent to our hotel. The first night we ate was on our first night & I must say it was worth the recommendations that we had received previously. The staff were attentive, very helpful (our French is just deplorable), & our food was delicious. I started with a salad with smoked fish & my husband the carpaccio of salmon. Off to a great start we looked forward to our main. We were not disappointed as the Côte du Beouf & the assiette of meats were just lovely & tender & very tasty. I usually eat medium at home but I ordered medium well & got an Irish medium. So our next visit was only 3 nights later. The restaurant was extremely busy being a Friday night. However it was very warm sticky & quite uncomfortable to sit in. All the windows were closed & there was no air con or even a fan. Once again we ordered the exact same as the previous night. The starters once again were delish but the meat for mains was very disappointing, quite tough in fact. Also the previous evening we had lovely potatoes whilst on the 2nd visit it was like a rosti potato. I couldn't finish my meal & I don't know whether it was down to the heat of the room or the meat. Also the restaurant was terribly understaffed. Only 2 staff covering at least 20 tables. We waited a bit for water & wine. However our waiter who has very little English was super nice if not a tad over worked. 3 stars may seem a bit harsh but the difference in our experience within a very short timespan merited that. Try it though. It's very popular so they must be doing something right.
