Les Vieilles Canailles

PERFECT...From the beginning to the end. Best restaurant in Aix and its area. Super friendly, welcoming and warm when I called in to book the table. I went there in the high season and they gave us the table I had asked for (which was not that easy given the restricted number of tables due to covid restrictions). Seasonal menu magnifies French traditions. All products are fresh and some vegetables come directly from the garden the owner has outside the city. Yes Frédéric puts a lot of time, energy and passion to describe everything that is on the menu. You either hate it or love it. I loved it. Feeling that passion is just delightful...And so far away from the food business being done in many restaurants these days...In Aix and elswhere. Wait time is absolutely acceptable given the quality and freshness of the dishes being prepared. Wine list is super rich and outstanding. Super young staff doing an amazing job. Prices are fair for that level of quality in the products and service. I wish there were more places like that. Les Vieilles Canailles is just a good reminder of why French cuisine can be the best in the world. Thanks for being so passionate, honest and good at what you do...from the kitchen to the table. I will surely come back the next time I am in Aix.

this place was so good, we went back for more! seasonal fresh ingredients. the restaurant has its own garden that grows some of the fresh vegetables on the menu. the creative execution of the menu of chef philipe sous koch thomas was simply fantastic! almost every dish on the menu was something to be bashed. they also have an extensive regional wine offering. the wee pairings of frederick philipe were simply perfect to improve both the weingut! the ambiente was cozy, casual, funny. frederick was wonderful to present the menu with such energy that boosted the entire experience. this has become my fav restaurant and I recommend the very. reservation is highly recommended. very small restaurant.

that was an experience you should not miss. eating was of course excellent and totally reasonable. the dishes were exquisite. but, even better, our host snd maitre d’, frederick, was a great moderator, very charming in French and English, and his explanation of the Ghe menu in the evening, which we gedified, there were special. I get this place very good, but reservations are one must!

my absolute favorite place in aix en provence. there is so much heart in the dishes, each very well executed. this place is so good I went 4x in a week! remember this one. Does not hurt at all that the wine selection is great! frederic and pierre are the best, let them lead them with the food and wine!

excellent. all dishes were presented with great enthusiasm, the dishes themselves were original and tasty, and the wee well paired. for two entrees, platings and desserts, including wine pairings and champagne to start, we paid 105, which was more than worth.
