Top notch food with friendly service and at a reasonable price is a rarity on Ile de Ré.After many lacklustre culinary experiences on the island, we were lucky to find Les Viviers towards the end of our stay, and ended up dining there two evenings in a row. The place offers top notch albeit traditional local seafood. If you can, go and splash on the blue lobster seafood platter. You'll thank me later. The menu sets are also very satisfying. We had, among other things, an excellent seafood soup, followed by a squid accompanied by a delicate tomato-basil sauce. The cuisine exudes balance and good taste - clearly this chef knows what he is doing. The service is on par: even when it's very busy (as the restaurant invariably gets) the Patronne and her staff remain available and attend to you with a smile and a touch of humour - very pleasant.Last but not least, the wine list complements the fish and seafood very nicely, and the prices are amazingly reasonable compared to the bulk of Ré establishments...All in all, very much recommended.
