Top notch food with friendly service and at a reasonable price is a rarity on Ile de Ré.After many lacklustre culinary experiences on the island, we were lucky to find Les Viviers towards the end of our stay, and ended up dining there two evenings in a row. The place offers top notch albeit traditional local seafood. If you can, go and splash on the blue lobster seafood platter. You'll thank me later. The menu sets are also very satisfying. We had, among other things, an excellent seafood soup, followed by a squid accompanied by a delicate tomato-basil sauce. The cuisine exudes balance and good taste - clearly this chef knows what he is doing. The service is on par: even when it's very busy (as the restaurant invariably gets) the Patronne and her staff remain available and attend to you with a smile and a touch of humour - very pleasant.Last but not least, the wine list complements the fish and seafood very nicely, and the prices are amazingly reasonable compared to the bulk of Ré establishments...All in all, very much recommended.

Having set off on a two week trip around Europe, the island of I'l De Re was our final stop off point before we headed back up north. What a place!!!Beautiful island and then we stumble across this restaurant and just wow. It's primarily a seafood restaurant as the food is caught straight from the sea and then served so totally fresh and cooked so so well. For my main I had the steak and it was one of the best steaks I've ever eaten. Friends who I was with had seafood and made similar comments. Fantastic place and fantastic food.Service was slightly slow but I think that was mainly down to the fact they were very busy and we had a slight language barrier but that shouldn't put you off this place. Honestly the food is amazing!

This is what you want out of a french sea side restaurant. We had a great lunch ,served by really friendly staff next to the oyster tanks used for holding the oh so fresh seafood. Everything was great and good value - but I'll single out for particular praise the bulots( whelks) and oysters. Will definitely go back.
