L'etape Charollaise

There is a surprising high level of refined and sophisticated cuisine in this auberge set on the side of the road between Cluny and Montceau les mines on D980. The building is common to the area and is not much of an eye catcher. The table though is purely phenomenal and the personnel is very attentive, deferent, smiling, and polite. We were offered a surprising “amuse bouche” while waiting for our main dish that was really amusing: an aubergine cream in orange seed oil ! was beautiful. the three of us aimed for the fish, well presented, as all the plates coming out of the kitchen with that kind of modern decoration that you find only in top of the range restaurant. The best Viré-Clessé wine pushed nicely the meal down. we were offered some “Mignardises” before desert and coffee, that was a final nice touch. A gem.

Une auberge bien tenue et très professionnelle. Nous sommes venus dîner à 4 à l’étape charolaise, et nous avons été très chaleureusement reçu. Nous avons opté pour le menu découverte entrée plat (foie gras, escargots et cromesquis en entrée et entrecôte, tendre de tranche, aile de raie et caille en plat), avant de terminer par une assiette de fromage et un fromage blanc avec son coulis de mûres. Le dîner était délicieux et le service très chaleureux. Merci pour ce beau moment !

Très bon restaurant avec une bonne cuisine du terroir , les serveuses sont charmantes et souriante et le chef cuisine comme un chef ,sa viande et ces sauces sont excellentes et les desserts idem . Valérie et Guillaume.

Small but fine menu. Every walk of the menu was very delicious. There are also great wines.... and everything in the region.
