"I have never dined at this restaurant before, but I must say it is the best place for drinks in the Leyton area. The ales are excellent, especially the lighter ones, and the prices are reasonable. It is a great pub to stop by on the way home from work."

I came here at 6pm on a Tuesday it was not to busy but there seemed to be a major breakdown in communication in the kitchen. We had squid and scotch egg for dtarters which were very nice. However when it came to mains we ordered Sausage and mash and two Guinness Pie the accompaniments of cauliflower cheese and mash which were both cold on the two plates my friends were eating from. We had to take back to the kitchen ourselves due it getting busy with football crowd. Then they brought three pies back and no sausages. My friends ate the pies which they enjoyed now that the whole dish was warm. I had to wait for an additional 15 mins for my sausage and mash. My friends had finished before i had...

We had lunch here and it was OK to good. There was nothing you could critisise about the food but there again nothing to rave about. The service was friendly and efficient ,the room large and empty so lacking in character when we were there ,however I am sure when full there is a good vibe. There was a good lounge area where folk were playing games, another area where a group were celebrating a birthday. The beer pipes need a clean as my pint of IPA was cloudy. I am sure this pub is hugely popular with the locals but lacks the quality to draw people in from afar.

My girlfriend and I only lasted about three minutes in this restaurant. We were barely acknowledged by the staff, as one employee simply stood next to us at the bar and stared at us without speaking. I finally broke the silence and greeted him, asking for a drink as I was already holding money in my hand. He responded with a curt "occasionally I work here" and continued to stare at me as if I were an alien. His arrogance was off-putting, so we promptly left. I would not recommend this place, no matter how thirsty you may be.

This is a big, shabby but comfortable pub using the building that was formerly the local technical college. We had lunch there on Sunday. The staff were friendly and efficient. It is a short menu offering a limited choice of starters, mains and puddings, and includes vegan and vegetarian options. Three of us each had a different roast dinner. All the food was tasty, well prepared and generous portions. In particular, the vegetables were very good. The beer was excellent. We had a terrific lunch. Réservez une table maintenant

This has got to be one of the best pubs in London, packed with character and with some great beer. I was really looking forward to our pre-football drink here but the surly manner of the two women on the door really spoilt our visit. I appreciate that we had to queue if the pub is too busy, but there is a nice way of telling people that and explaining what is going on or you can snarl at people. And they were very much in the latter camp. Sadly, this will be my last visit here.

Terrible food, inattentive staff and no loo roll! The food was the worst it’s ever been in there. Roast dinner was over cooked, hardly any veg, awful roast potatoes and the yorkies were not proper yorkies. We waited ages even through it was quiet. Don’t bother with a beef roast, you will be lucky to get your knife through it. The setting is fun and embraces the original features but in future we won’t be eating here, just use it for a drink.

We’ve been to this pub a few times now. The drinks and bar food are good and well priced. The Sunday roast however is expensive for what you get. I can’t fault the service here the main waitress is lovely. The food itself was delicious, but we were just disappointed with the small portion of beef and veg for £15.50 per person. I would prefer to try another pub next time.

As a lifelong resident of Leyton, I have witnessed the changes in the area over the years. This restaurant has always been a wonderful addition to the neighborhood. I want to give a special shoutout to Millie, who went out of her way to contact us about my girlfriend's lost passport and kept it safe for almost a week until we were able to pick it up. We use this interesting pub quite regularly and have eaten here a few times, always been good. But in the last few weeks all the guest beers seem to have gone up by about 70-80 pence a pint takng them to nearly £5.00. The Volden is still around the £4.00 or less point. Seems a bit steep.
