L'incontro has an attractive interior, a long menu with weekly variations, a short wine list, and a friendly host. I reserved a table for 8 people to celebrate the birthday of a friend. They told me that if I brought the cake, they would charge me 1.5 Euro extra per person for the service and plates, so as students, we ditch the idea of sharing a cake there. This is a small restaurant with an interesting and varied interior. Tables are situated on three different floor tiers, with varying degrees of privacy. The host is friendly and engaging. In the three months I lived in Karlsruhe I visited L'incontro several times. The menu is expansive with various pizzas, risotto, fish (particularly mussels) and pasta with homemade pasta noodles. The wine list is short, but features good quality wines. Unlike in America where wine by the glass is usually bad, in Germany one can expect decent table wine by the glass. The atmosphere of the internal room is very nice with beautiful paintings that follow the logo of incontro and beautiful lamps that create the atmosphere.
