I'm working on the other side of the freeway. I've been to El Metate, many times but wanted to try something different. They have basic diner food. But the food is so much better than basic! everything was piping hot and my drink was refilled multiple times. service was quick. I made it back to work well within the time I was allotted. I had the spinach, mushroom, omelette and hash browns. They have a housemate hot sauce and it is well worth it! They also have an outdoor seating area. Vegetarian options: They do not automatically include bacon and sausage, with their breakfasts. The menu wasn't clearly labeled but there were enough vegetarian options to make anyone happy. This is my favorite spot whenever I'm in the area. It's a fantastic family-owned restaurant with great value for the food. The staff is wonderful, and if you want to feel at ease and enjoy a good meal without breaking the bank, I highly recommend giving it a try.
Would usually rate them higher for good food and excellent service but have to ding them for charging extra for using an electronic form of payment. Unfair to customers to pass along to them what should just be part of the cost of doing business.
For vegetarians, there are a few options available, although they are quite limited. I noticed only one vegetarian sandwich on the lunch menu, and unfortunately, they do not offer vegetarian burgers or any vegan dishes.

The food was extremely delicious and prepared quickly; we waited no more than 10 minutes. The server was very friendly and attentive. Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and I would recommend it to everyone.
Great food, fantastic friendly service at a reasonable price. What's not to like? A great local small business we are so happy we stopped in.

Had the Mexican omelette with English muffin. The chorizo was amazing and all the ingredients so fresh. Perfect for a stop before work.
