When I began requesting the toppings I wanted, the gentleman on the phone sighed as if he was exhausted already. They randomly close whenever they want. My wife and I drove almost 2 hours from Monterey to have some of their sandwiches. When we got there around 2pm, we walked into the open door, and one of the workers rudely told us that they're closed and we should get out. I looked up the hours again to make sure, and they're supposed to be open. The employee didn't seem to care, and dismissed us with a rude gesture. No food is worth this kind of treatment. Get better staff.
Come on, I'm sorry but I've been going to Little Lucas for over 35 years and my favorite always order is hot pastrami with swiss cheese on toasted dutch crunch with everything on it especially there pesto. The pesto spread has been a tradition for all those years. Only three things have changed, a new location in Millbrae, the price back in the day was $5, and they no longer remove the dough to have more space for all that meat.
The sandwiches are huge! Be ready to share with 1-2 people. I split mine into lunch and dinner. We ordered the double meat with corned beef and pastrami and the prime rib sandwiches. The garlic spread really enhanced the flavor and my sandwich had a little kick to it. I went when it opened and there was no line. It's just a takeout place so don't expect to eat there because there are no seating. Lots of parking though.

The food was acceptable, but I had a frustrating experience. I tried to place a phone order at 10:55 AM, but they only accepted walk-ins, assuring me it would be quick. I arrived at 11:05 AM, waited in line to place my order, and finally received my sandwich at 11:30. Unfortunately, I ended up being late returning to work and didn’t have time to eat it. I won’t be going back.
We usually go to the other location in San Bruno. This location was just as good. The sandwiches are still large and delicious. For the same price as other sandwhich chain stores, you get more for your money. Been going here and the other location for over 20 years.
This place offers the best sandwiches in town! It's takeout only, and unfortunately, the outdoor seating has been taken away. It's a small spot, and there's often a long line, so it's a good idea to call ahead and place your order for pickup.
I've been eating at Lucas for the last 35 years. I have lived all over america. I live in UT. You will never find another deli better. The garlic spread reminds me of my youth.

Line was nearly out the door when I arrived and well out the door when I left! Huge sandwich, everything fresh and so tasty. Had the chipotle bird definitely recommend ??
Their sandwich is incredible, I have tried lots of food there and haven't been disappointed yet.
