This is a cute cafe with a good menu but is let down but terrible service. This was the second time I've been there and both times they have taken ages to bring coffee and food. I would be less bothered about this if they responded to follow when asked about this but both times this hasn't happened nor did any staff seem too concerned about it.Today, we had to ask 3 times about coffee. Despite being assured that they were just making them, when I went in 10 mins later they were making another order before hours. The time on that order was more than 20 minutes after we had ordered. The staff seemed annoyed at being asked about this and didn't apologise that it took over 40 minutes for 2 coffe...

I ordered the haloumi and corn frittatas and couldn't have been more disappointed! The food was dry and completely flavourless.. I would liken it to bits of corn in dry batter, with no evidence of the subtle salty cheesiness of haloumi that the wait staff promised was contained in the dish. Afterwords I felt ill and sincerely regretted eating this food, let alone being obligated pay $17 for the plate. I was left with the impression of extreme stinginess with desired ingredients by this business (i.e., haloumi and avocado, of which there was 4 tiny tiny pieces mixed in with the tomato). The dish was overpriced and stingy.. the waitstaff spent over 20 minutes to clear my dish and never checked...
Favourite scrambled eggs in Canberra (that I now try to copy at home).Every time I've been I've always had very friendly smiling staff, curious to see how a sit-down for an unbooked weekend service would go as it was pretty busy for Thursday lunchtime. Closely spaced seating, but has never felt intrusive. For the intentionally difficult (medically) it can get a little expensive putting together an ideal big breakfast, mine would go something like:3 eggs scrambledPulled porkTomatoMushroomAvocadoSpinachPesto/salsa/relishBut I have to commit serious surgery on the menu offerings to get there. The genuinely happy vibe is a big change from a lot of other cafes and is the main attraction here. My friend and I stopped off here for coffee as it was the only one nearby to a class we'd attended at Cook. We requested "hot" coffee, but it tasted like it was tap-water "hot" so my friend called the waitress over and asked for it to be heated more and suggested that even a zap in a microwave would be acceptable. When the coffee was returned it was no different. My friend took the cup into the shop counter and complained the coffee was sill not "hot" as she'd ordered and that she didn't think it had been reheated at all, after her request. Again, it was brought back the same.Maybe we were resented because it was about 4.30 and they wanted to close up! The upshot of it is that we now activel... Réservez une table maintenant
We are Canberra locals. Went here for Saturday morning breakfast. Menu looked good - lots of the usual brekkie items priced around the $15-20 mark (pretty standard for Canberra). It is a casual cafe, diffident parking out front and looks like they are dog friendly, with several large tables out the front. The coffee was decent but food was just ok. I had corn and halloumi fritters and my partner had the standard big breakfast. Both looked a little too fried and didn't have as much flavour as hoped. Staff are casual but very sweet. Overall, this isn't bad if it's your local and walking distance from home. But for us, who live some suburbs away, there are better places within the same driving r...
Canberra has lots of suburban cafes that serve some great food. These cafes have a loyal following from local residents. Little Oink is a delightful cafe with great coffee and a tasty menu. Unlike city cafes that are too popular with queues for a place to sit, then a wait for the food, suburban ones are quick and efficient. The pork belly with hash brown and fried egg is superb. If you don't live locally, best not to impose on local residents as we would like to keep this nice little place amongst ourselves.
Went for lunch with friends and were sadly disappointed. Their service was terrible. We found a table and waited fifteen minutes and then got our own menus. They then brought more menus over once they realised. We were the only people there at this time. The food was ridiculously overpriced for what we received and the flavours were not great. Never again and we won't be recommending it.
Small, quaint little cafe with retro feel. Latgr outside area..but no good on a cold canberra day..brrrrr. had the smashed avo.. was tasty but coffee was warm and had to request the next one to be hotter :(Service was hit and miss..finished plates left when second coffee bought out. Good to try but will not go again. Réservez une table maintenant
Informal cafe in Cook shops offering a short menu of tasty choices backed up with great coffee - good selection of mainly pork and bacon or vegetarian items.

"Comfortable, clean, attentive service. The portions can be inconsistent. I ordered the Avocado bruschetta, unfortunately it was drowning in a heavy balsamic thickened sauce which totally overpowered the delicate flavor of the avocado"
