A dining experience of the best sort , with Lo Gorissado at the top of its game. We were welcomed warmly, as ever, by Marlene the proprietor and by a charming, very attentive waitress; and though there were eventually at least four other tables occupied and a large party of French who were celebrating a young girl’s first communion, and were seated at a long table under a long attractively decorated gazebo, we were neither neglected nor had to wait for constant attention. The round table for the four of us was under the shade of a lattice- style awning and was lovingly laid out for us. As well as three splendid courses we shared an amuse bouche with four different, equally delicious tasters, followed by an assiette de ferme for each of us with a wonderful array of local pates and foie gras varieties. All of our main courses were prepared and presented with flair and care for detail, and were needless to say delicious. The desserts were just as appealing and tasty, whilst our coffee was accompanied by the chef’s offering of petit fours plus a small glass of pan a cotta with a delicate covering of dark chocolate. As one of my dining colleagues remarked, “ what’s not to like about such a repast” ! Indeed we were delighted to have decided to revisit an old favourite and find it so flourishing; and the gentle murmur of conversation around us, where even the large group who were separately served by their own dedicated waitress did nothing but enhance the charm of the lunchtime, made this a special visit. Our thanks to the chef Thierry, whom we were lucky to speak to briefly during his very busy day, and of course Marlene and our waitress. And by the way, it was also great value, being was less costly than several other places we have tried this summer where the meal was not so rewarding. Well done Lo Gorissado.
