A few minutes later, the cashier/waitress approached us, and we ordered drinks. Since we had two small kids with us, we asked for a kids' menu (a reasonable request, right?). This turned out to be our first red flag when we asked about the kids' chicken strips versus the buttermilk chicken bites. We were quietly advised to avoid the chicken strips, which left us wondering why they were even on the menu! We settled on a 12-piece buttermilk chicken meal, a chicken-fried chicken meal, and a grilled cheese, along with an extra side of mashed potatoes, some root beer, tea, and water. Great, we were excited to eat! By 7 PM, only one other table was occupied, so we expected our food to arrive quic...
This restaurant has definitely declined. I've been here at least nine times, and my most recent visit was terrible. The food was disappointing, and the French fries had clearly been cooked in oil that needed changing. Our waitress brought our sodas towards the end of our meal, despite us saying "excuse me" five times. When we mentioned that the sodas tasted like they came from a dirty hose, she seemed completely indifferent and annoyed that we were bothering her. We won’t be returning. It's unfortunate, as they’re the only true diner in Haskell, OK.
I made a pit stop here during a motorcycle ride today and wow, what an experience! We absolutely loved it. The staff was warm and personable, making us feel right at home. The food was amazing too! This place is a hidden gem, and I can see it becoming a regular stop for me once summer arrives. Thank you, ladies, for such a wonderful experience today!
