The "Lodge" in Kronberg is indeed a good restaurant, no question. It does not live up to the expectations though created by all the great reviews available. The quality of food is good, but I had better steaks. The service is good as well, but on the other hand I experienced more attentive staff. And since this is supposed to be one of the best Steak Restaurants in this area, I have to compare to other, similar locations. And based on that, even though everything is "good", the overall experience was just average. The value you get for your money is poor, which reduces the overall rating. While I would be willing to accept prices for the (quality of) meat served, sides to your main course are overpriced and simple additions are charged disproportionate amounts of money. The sauce included with every steak is basically ketchup with odd seasoning (it tastes a bit like "Christmas ketchup") and will most likely spoil the good taste of your steak. The expensive side salad is very basic, at least the dressing is tasty. The location itself is neatly arranged, you might want to go for a window table giving you a nice look over the nearby Zoo. However, you will be seated on "safari chairs" which are way to uncomfortable for a nice and relaxed dinner. In addition, they are too tall - short people will have to actually climb up these chairs to sit down. Once achieved, you're always too far away from the table but unable to get your chair closer. While these chairs are somewhat OK for sitting and talking, they are rather impractical once your food has been served. They also have "normal" chairs and tables, you might want to go for one of the round couch-like chair/table corners, they seem to be the most comfortable seats there.I liked the idea of presenting the bill in a little drawer containing some sweets which you are free to pick some from. Service was friendly.Overall, it's really good, but not outstanding.
