Long Lae - Réservation de table

I have dined at Sweet Java on two separate occasions in the past 3 weeks. The first occasion we visited the restaurant with our two young grandchildren. The atmosphere was very casual and relaxed, the owner Rob and I believe his wife is the chef were both delightful. The place is most definitely family friendly. The food was superb - very authentic Indonesian fare indeed!Grandson (9) enjoyed Nasi Goreng as did my hubbie, grand-daughter (7) ordered the chicken satays. I ordered the Beef Rendang (mmmm!) Great location - in the middle of Mt Lawley and very easy to park as the restaurants is in the residential section. Obviously the locals enjoy this convenience of having a restaurant close by as many seemed to be walking in from close by and everyone seemed to know the owner Robert. Robert greets you on arrival and is very courteous.The décor is dated and could do with an upgrade. Fresh paint etc.The food is authentic Indonesian. Not many of these restaurants in Perth these days. I was told that Robert's wife cooks all the food. It was yummy.Big bonus - able to BYO - this is getting harder to do in Perth restaurants.Service - well this is a hard one to rate.Robert is certainly a personality...

We recently returned to Sweet Java (this was our 3rd visit in 6 months). Rob as always a warm welcoming character showed us to a table for 3 (Hubbie, myself and our youngest daughter were dining on this occasion). We ordered Beef satays for entree (2 each was a nice teaser for the coming main course). We ordered Beef Rendang, Gado Gado & Nasi Goreng. Food as always was superb - top quality and very authentic Indonesian. Looking forward to our next visit already. Next time we plan to introduce older daughter, her partner and our grandkids to Sweet java... Our grandkids have been there with us before so they will enjoy their 2nd trip to Sweet Java.

a great small local with reliable taste and service. I love seasoned, but here years ago had a very spicy fish curry that hurt my during spicy loving family (they warned us to be fair, but the menu also said it was spicy so eighty! but we ate every bite because it was delicious. the pad thai was in order, with a beautiful tom kha and large green curry. the great rice was not so big, but otherwise the prices are reasonable, the family that runs together are friendly, and it is a cute little house setting that is a beautiful change from others. Neighbourhood motto. marmelade packed on a Friday night. free byo. highlights were the prawn pad thai and taro sticky reiseis. also enjoyed the chicken green curry and bark meat salad. red duck curry and basilikum chicken roast were average. portion on the smaller side, so the bill is raised. in total enjoyed the meal.

If you are looking for authentic spicy Thai dishes this restraurant ticked all the boxes. From fish cakes to the paw paw salad to Lard nah...yum yum and yum. So glad they are open post Subiaco market. Authentic favours without burning a hole in your pocket. You feel like you're back in Thailand.

Came back here tonight for dinner and was surprised by the fact it's replaced by Thai Restaurant called Long Lae. We realised after we open the menu that given to us. No wonder Mbak Sri no longer there welcoming us. Wonder what happen to her and her family. Réservez une table maintenant

One of the best Indonesian restaurants in Perth, and defo the best rendang any restaurant ever made (or I had tasted) in this city.

Good value home style Indonesian food locally. Decor is very ordinary but if you can look past that it's a good feed.
