Lou Bouccin - Réserver une table

We passed by Les Salles on our return from les Gorges du Verdon and back to Bagnols-en-Forêt. It was lunch time and we were looking for a place for a quick bite (our kids were travelling along). We landed at Lou Bouccin, not expecting anything impressive. What a disaster. We ordered a really dead simple dish (hot dogs with french fries) for all of us, plus soft drinks.Firstly, service was messy and we had to wait a long time (30 minutes) to be served. Then, the food was awful: the hot dogs looked like they had been made out of inner tubes of bicycle tires and the fries were covered with black parts of soot that is typical of overused frying oil.The bill was not cheap (50 Euro including soft drinks for one dish + one drink per person).The last straw were the tasteless comments the owner made loudly about a handicapped person who had eaten there and had just left with his family. Word of advice: don't go there with disabled guests.

We chose this place as we had passed it previously and it looked nice. However, when we sat down,we had to wait an eternity to get served. After placing our order, ouir drinks arrived reasonably quick. However, the food was another matter. After about 40 minutes another couple who arrived after us were served their meal. On seeing this we complained and were told it would not be long. It took another 25 minutes before our meals arrived with a mummbled, half hearted apology for the wait. We asked for the bill and after 15 minutes, had to go to the bar an demand the bill again. There was no apology for the wait or even a thank you when I paid the bill. Have to say the food was good but was spoiled by the unacceptable wait and poor service.

We had an impromptu lunch here whilst staying in the region. We went for a cheap and cheerful hamburger and chips washed down with a beer each. The waiter was attentive and friendly. Our food came quickly and the burger was really good - cooked how we like it, and very flavourful. The prices were extremely reasonable.We were in and out of the restaurant in about 45 minutes, but could easily have sat and drunk beer there for the rest of the afternoon.

One block away from the main street, makes this the cheapest restaurant in the town, but the range of food is not great. When the rain started, chaos ensued and they got orders mixed up. I finished my meal before any of the other dishes arrived. You get the feeling they are trying their best, but just don't have the professionalism to make it any better.

We only had a cafe au lait here and it was brilliant. The lady who runs the place is very friendly. We didn't eat here but had to review the coffee since it was the best one I had during my stay.
