Ludlow Bar and Dining Room

While staying at Southbank, I dined here with my daughter and had a nice bar meal, so decided to go back with friends the following night. This time I bought a bottle of wine to share and when we went to pay was told it was twice the price we thought it was. Apparently the menu lists price per glass and price per mini-carafe (half bottle), not bottle! Who in this day and age still uses carafes?? As every other menu I have seen lists wine as glass price and bottle price, we were quite shocked when we went pay the bill and were charged double the listed price for a bottle. The food is standard pub grub at reasonable prices, but be wary if buying bottled wine!

Four of us met up for dinner and a couple of drinks at about 6pm. The $20 meal of ribs seemed good value when you include the free beer. An excellent range of interesting beers added to the occasion. Unfortunately, apart from the delicious rib the plate was quite sparse leaving us all still hungry. Dessert menu was very limited and extremely expensive. At 7:15pm we moved on to find somewhere to eat. :(

Lamb shanks should be moist and flavoured filled. The meat should fall from the bone. Not at this restaurant. The shank was over-cooked and dry. Not much else to say really. The meals showed very little care and missed the mark entirely. Had chosen the a la carte menu rather than the bar menu expecting something different. Disappointed.

It was our first visit to Melbourne and noticed the deal of $20 for a meal and drink as we were strolling along by the river.Thought we would give it a try and have to say it was very good and service too. There were 6 of us and each had something different all very tasty and plenty to eat. Réservez une table maintenant

Attended a function / party at this restaurant. Staff were tentative to every need. Food was tasty and portions were ok. Everyone enjoyed the evening and it was a great atmosphere. Great selection of wines and cocktails. Looking forward to our next visit there.

Great location on Melbourne's Southbank. Big shout out to the English bloke who served us. So friendly and efficient. The cauliflower and leek pie was good and the chicken sandwich was not bad either, nothing amazing though. Nice selection of beers and wines.

Male waiter was amazing-I have a skin condition and he ensured that I was placed in the shade with no sun, incredibly helpful and good at his job. The food was incredible also we will be there again-try the roast beef sandwich

Got to love the $20 meal deal with glass wine / beer. A no brainer if in a quandary of what to eat on a limited budget. Loads of views and great service add to the nice experience. Great stop and well spotted! No regrets Réservez une table maintenant

Lunch special was burger with fries/ fish and chips, and a wine for $20 each - perfect.The burger was delicious

Good standard menu. Very good staff. The seafood chowder was very good. Easy location to find. Adequate wine
