we were invited by friends in a rainy night in December to dinner. the restaurant is located in a park (landestwinschule, melle) with several medieval buildings and is apparently used by a local sports school. is located in one of these spectacular buildings. the restaurant consists of a series of rooms that are separated by professional traders on two levels. we sat on a long table next to the kamin. after an excellent beer I enjoyed a delicious pumpkin ginger soup and a hearty (after the stomping) wildbret, which was rolled around mushrooms in a juis, served with red cabbage and knoodl on the side (a kind of kartoffel dumpling). when they are in German, they prepare themselves for almost every meal on cauliflowers and kartomas; salads are rare and are usually ordered specifically. my wife had fried the rustic building stew with black medallions, sweet and cartomas in a flat, blackened pan and served with a simple salat. our friends also had the baked salmon with crispy kartoffelrösti. we all enjoyed cake, ice and tee to finish. eating was delicious, but it made it even better locally; all the old wooden frames, heavy dark beams, camein, railings, the sitting areas and flats separate, and bleached windows with wooden frames. very cool. for better weather and maybe something outside light would have been better.
