We are staying at the Alexander MacKenzie Hotel and were given vouchers for free continental breakfast at this restaurant which is situated between the indoor mall and the hotel. Our son didn't use his voucher because he had to be at the pool very early for a swim meet. We ended up going to LVS for lunch because he wanted Chinese food. They let us use his breakfast voucher for $6 off our total bill. The 3 of us shared the seafood tofu hotpot, beef fried rice and sautéed mixed vegetables. After the sever rudely sat us at the table, dumped a full ice cold glass of water all over my 13 year old daughter, served me undercooked chicken and my daughter an undercooked pre-made patty the server has the nerve to look at my daughter and say "meh it happens and a little water won't kill you" with a shrug. No I'm sorry no offer of a towel or anything to help her with the wet clothing nothing.. Not even the decor was worth the visit.. Christmas lights everywhere as well as old decorations from Christmas still hanging from the ceiling. Was there on March 19 in the evening with two guest. Found a 1-1/4" long screw in my fried rice. The waitress was very nice and couldn't wait to scoop the screw up to bring back to the chef and also to get rid of the eveidence. Could hear the chef in the back yelling at her. All she came with was 40% off the meal - WOW big deal. Smart chef/owner ? knowing the waitress was trying her best and we did feel sorry for her to be caught in the middle. It would have been decent of the owner/chef to have come out and acknowledge the incident rather than having the server take blunt of the incident.
We went in as a large group, family birthday supper. The Chinese smorgasbord was fresh with all the favorite dishes, lots of meaty choices, even a non-Chinese beef roast. The beef roast was delicious, makes me want to try the prime rib supper.While this is not gourmet oriental food, it is tasty and well worth the visit. As we had small grand kids with us we even got the benefit of the owners 3 year old at our table. Possibly only in Mackenzie. Family dining indeed. One question, LVS? This restaurant is handy to the Alexander Mackenzie hotel and mall. It's decor is old and tired.We had lunch and supper from here a few times and there was lots of food, especially in take away.Breakfast was included as part of the hotel. We were not overly pleased. It was your basic Continental style, but the muffins were not fresh and there was only one choice of cereal. The juice and milk were not put on ice and therefore were room temperature. Not our first choice but there's not a lot of choice for breakfast in Mackenzie.
I actually tried to get seated twice. First time that I went in, there was only one table seated, restaurant was empty and the waitress didn't even check the door so I left. I noticed people going in do I tried again. This time she acknowledged me but served everyone else and wandered back to the kitchen. I finally left after 10 minutes of standing. Again restaurant was empty. If you can't get seated, how can you even rate the food?
Stopped in for lunch yesterday and got the surprise of a lifetime when we ordered a small wonton soup. First, it was huge! Secondly it was the best wonton soup both of us have ever had. The pork was excellent, the veg had the right amount crunch and the wonton were delish. Highly recommend it!
