However it still maintains a lovely community feel, which extends into one of its gem restaurants: Maggie's Thai . This restaurant is a favourite among locals, which is probably the highest praise a restaurant can receive. Michelin stars are overrated just ask Lisa down the street what she thinks. Maggie’s is a small gem on Erskineville mall, quite popular with the locals. The interior looks a bit plain, but the food rarely disappoints.<br/ <br/ The four of us ordered fish cakes and curry puffs as a small starter. The fish cakes were delicious, and the curry puffs very nice. I am not a big fan of puffs, but still enjoyed them.<br/ <br/ As main we shared wok tossed soft shell crab, monk fish curry, and a papaya salad with battered fish. The soft shell crab was a delight and the fish curry very well done. The papaya salad was good, although a bit on the sweet side.<br/ <br/ Service was extremely friendly, I will certainly be back.
It is great to see Maggie's open once again. They are not your usual Thai restaurant with the menu being very small in comparison to other Thai restaurants and just that little bit classier. The restaurant is very child and family friendly with dinner service starting around 5:30 so you can get in and eat early to get the young ones to bed.<br/ <br/ We ordered home delivery on this occasion and we very impressed with the quality of food delivered and how quick it was, especially on a Friday.<br/ <br/ I would recommend this place to anyone especially after a cheeky drink at the Hive Bar or the Rose.
It would be easy to walk past this unassuming hole in the wall. There isn’t much room and the decor isn’t fantastic. While walking past you might wonder why it’s so packed. The reason is, the food is amazing here. The service is variable. I’ve been at times when the service is fantastic and attentive but I’ve also been when it was terrible. The reason to come here is for the food. Some of the best Thai food in Sydney. It’s surrounded by flashy pubs and restaurants but this little hallway is a real gem. Don’t walk past! Pop into the bottle’o next door. Grab a bottle and sit down and enjoy.

Very small casual byo restaurant (there's a BWS a few doors down, BYO $4 per bottle with the loveliest staff! Vegetarian spring rolls get a big thumbs up from me crispy on the outside, not oily, filling was flavoursome, light and fresh. Their menu is not extensive but they have a really awesome Chef's special menu. <br/ I would love to dine here more often but it is on the pricey side $18 for a pad see ew, $24 for a main meat dish. <br/ Not good for loud groups, great for low key dates ; <br/
Best Thai Ever. I been a Maggies Thai regular for many years and no matter how many Thai restaurants I try, I always come back to Maggies. The crab and papaya salad is my all time favourite having the right balance of hot, sour, sweet and saltiness. BTW Anna, I remember takeout dishes costing $12 but that was many years ago. Wouldn't it be great if the prices stayed the same? More crab and papaya for me please!

Local regulars of Maggies Thai and have never been disappointed. The staff are friendly, the food is fresh and delicious. After coming a few times now we have sampled several dishes and none have disappointed. Do yourself a favour and have the curry puffs. Will definitely be coming again. PS no charge for BYO which is always a bonus.

What a fabulous meal! The service was punctual and professional with that nice inner city charm. The food was stand out absolutly beautiful. I had the prawn with chlli jam it was fragrant not too sweet with just the right background of chilli. And the pork belly pad se ew was full of flavour. Can not wait to come back !
