Scallops and shrimp. Two of the easiest things on planet Earth to get right. Really, all you need is five ingredients: white wine, butter, garlic, salt and pepper. For some reason, this restaurant decided to add bread crumbs to the recipe and deduct the five other ingredients I just mentioned. Seriously: there was no flavor in the dish I ordered. It literally tasted like shrimp, scallops, and a paste of mushy bread crumbs. From one cook to another: Why would you do this? The waitress (who was quite friendly and sympathetic) informed me that they put bread crumbs in everything, so if you're a celiac, avoid this place. It says absolutely nothing about this on their menu, by the way. Also, I'm pretty sure the vegetables were all previously frozen. One bright spot: If your Midwestern boomer grandma comes to visit, you'll have a place to take her to that she'll probably like.
Just returned to the main fish market in Windsor Locks Connecticut been 15 to 20 years since the last visit over the 15 years the food has taken a nose dive. It was absolutely terrible. Had surf and turf lobster and steak. The stuffing in the baked stuffed lobster was as tasty as a ground up. Cardboard would’ve been and just about as moist, they told me they were giving me a 14 ounce steak that I was afraid wouldn’t tip the scale more than 7 ounces it was over $125 meals and I could’ve got two hotdogs from Nick‘s nest in Holyoke and had as good if not the better meal than what I got there Don’t waste your money
I had a craving and didn't want to drive to the beach, but found this restaurant nearby. We sat in a very roomy booth in a comfortable environment, and our service was friendly and attentive. We ordered prickly pear margaritas, the mussels with garlic butter, and the Connecticut lobster rolls (warm with butter). Everything was absolutely delicious and definitely satisfied the craving! I would definitely recommend and return.
