With lots of gluten free options and being a BYOB I wanted to love this place...but, sadly, we won’t be back. We dined on a slow Sunday evening so expected no problems but...for the second year in a row, the main meal fell short of our expectations. Loved the Mako Bites and the Caprese Appetizer. They were well seasoned, flavorful, and tasty. Yummy apps! Off to a good start. Dinners were another story. The portions were small for the price and lacking in flavor. The salmon was very good but the sweet potato mash was soggy, over cooked and tasteless. The yellow and green squash medley was awful. No spices and the lack of uniform slicing led to a few overcooked pieces mixed in with undercooked...
The food at this restaurant is incredible, but unfortunately the service is terrible. Firstly, our waitress accidentally spilled water on someone in our group. Then, she didn't inform us about the dinner specials, yet she told the table next to us. I would have ordered a special if I had known about them. Additionally, when someone in our group requested salad dressing, the waitress never returned so we had to go into the kitchen to ask for it. Lastly, she never came back to refill our drinks. After this experience, I will not be returning to this restaurant.
I made a reservation for a Valentine's Day dinner at 8:00. When I arrived with my date, there was smoke in the restaurant. The service was even worse when I mentioned my reservation. They did not honor it and rudely suggested we come back at 9 o'clock. The overall experience was disappointing due to the smoke and the unappetizing appearance of the food. Ironically, not honoring our reservation turned out to be a blessing in disguise.
The food was average. Some people said their food was “good”. Other said “just okay”. The giant burrito was not giant. The wait was ridiculous. When the food for our party of 10 came out, it came out 1-2 people at a time with many minutes in between. My sandwich had a toasted bun but the bread was cold. The cheese was melted but it was not hot. Leads me to believe food sat for a while. Wouldn’t come back. Réservez une table maintenant
We have been frequenting Mako for years for its fresh and high-quality meals. The menu features current options with fresh ingredients and plenty of healthy choices for both quick and leisurely dining. We have always considered Mako to be one of Sea Isle's best kept secrets. The service, provided tonight by Grace, has always been excellent as well.
The mako grill at this restaurant is delicious and they also offer a variety of appetizers and desserts. It is BYOB, but the staff is very helpful and always courteous and attentive. This is a great place for a night out with your partner or for a larger group. Be sure to call ahead or make reservations through Yelp!
I dined at this restaurant in the summer and had a great experience, but my next visit was disappointing. The lights went out multiple times during our dinner, service was slow or non-existent, and the entire restaurant filled with smoke as soon as the chef started cooking. Thankfully, the food was delicious!
