Makoto Japanese Restaurant

We've been here for many years and it's always been great. Not this time. Service seemed almost unexistent. We had to get our own tea and water. If we had a question, it was almost impossible to name someone, and then we were answered very rudely. It seemed like the whole staff had been released, and there were only two people driving the place. Even when I was lying, he seemed upset to have the debit machine with the crowd, then he just left and left me to do the rest. I was really disappointed and will not be back. With so many options for sushi restaurants around it is sad that they think this is acceptable service.

I said to myself when I first entered Makoto: "hmmm, a real hole in the wall sushi place"! as the outside and interior is so bland and not even fancy. Then my friend told me it is been here in the same location for over a decade and the chef is the owner. Well, I actually quite like to eat here, food is good, price not that cheap but still affordable. I didn't find the service slow at all (as other customers' comment in their review). There are quite a few other restaurants catering different tastes in the neighbourhood. I am pretty sure I shall return soon :)

We went in to get a table, but were boiled because we said hello to people who were already in the restaurant who were too loud according to owners/washers/cashier/sushi cook. We were told that if we were loud, we would be... out. We just got in and had nothing to do with the behaviour of others! Unacceptable treatment of customers. Needless to say, we took our business elsewhere!

I have lived in the neighbourhood for many years, but had never tried this restaurant before last week. I ordered some assorted sushi around 8 pm and the food was ready for pick up right away (less than 20 minutes). The owner and a lady...More

Little restaurant, but good food. You'll get your own water, tea and just help you. The owner is an older Japanese man who just goes. Remember to book how it can fill quickly. Closed on Monday Tuesday.
