Well, that is odd.Lots of poor reviews. Costa Esperanza is the name now but it was previously called Malibu. It is the first restaurant toward the yacht club. We only really went there on our first day because it was open earlier than others. Some of which didn't even open until 8:30pm. Most, actually. However, the bread and garlic butter for a whole Euro was fabulously tasty. A Lasagne and Macaroni cheese at around 9 Euros and a bottle of Rosé wine for 12 Euros was perfectly fine for me and my good lady. Not huge portions, but that was a good thing. Complementary glass of moonshine finished me off fine, as I also had to drink my wife's one! We went another night and had a similar experience...
A toda hora desayuno comida cena qué más se puede pedir buena comida atención espectacular desayunar ahí es un encanto mirando el mar cenar ahí es otro encanto mirando la luna llena en el mar la comida da gusto también estás ahí fresquito mirando el mar comiendo tranquilamente la señora esperanza que es un amor y cocina súper bien los pescados frescos en fin no tengo palabras yo cada vez que pasó que tengo que ir Almería me paso por San José no voy Almería si no paso por allí a comer o a desayunar de verdad que es un lugar para recomendar
We were walking along the front past the restaurants when this waiter came out of the first restaurant saying “we are the best” best at what is yet to be revealed. We walked on passed then decided to give it a go once allocated a table we were left sat there for 25 mins without even the offer of a drink then just as we were about to leave the waiter came over, I had the paella which really put me off ever trying it again while in Spain, the service was awful, you have been warned and why have they changed their name !!!
just amazingly bad. stale bread (for 2 euros) chips swimming in oil. My daughters' pasta came with processed cheese with mold on it! The paella was sloppy and just tasted of garlic, I didn't eat half the sea food on it just in case it made me sick. I think this will go down as the worst restaurant experience I have EVER had!! Please avoid at all costs unless you want to experience just how bad a restaurant can be.

We ordered tea and coffee. I checked the price in the menu it was 1,5€/drink. We paid 4€... the restaurant was empty but the “waiter” showed us unclean table without tablecloth (it was the worst table in this place). Kitchen helpers were sitting next table and chatting loudly. But the worst part was the music. Our ears were raped by the worst cover of Queen we’ve ever heard.
Food was average. Lucky I checked my bill before paying. There were three items on the bill which I was being overcharged for. I spoke to the man on the cashdesk making up the bills. No apology, said he couldn´t find his glasses. That was his excuse. Another tourist trap. Always check your bill before paying.
One of the worst experience in my life, bad food, poor service, extremely expensive, bad relation quality/ price. No recomendable at all either for a beer, no tapas
Four of us wanted to stop for a drink. Waiter told us he wouldn’t serve us unless we ordered food as well. Lucky escape according to other reviews.
