After more than a decade, we returned to the Mallee Fowl and found the dining room still as special as ever. Located in a secluded, rustic Australian bush setting, the restaurant offers a unique charm. The only downside was the difficult-to-navigate car park and finding the front door on a dark night. The owner and staff were incredibly friendly, happy to chat about the various memorabilia adorning the walls and ceiling. The food was top-notch, with the beef and reef dish being a highlight – a tender piece of scotch cooked to perfection. This restaurant is a hidden gem nestled among the bushes just off the main road. There is a lot of interesting decor to admire, and the restaurant itself is full of quirky and fun items to look at. The owner and staff are incredibly friendly, and the service is quick. The menu offers a wide variety of options to choose from. While the food is good, it may not be outstanding, but you certainly won't leave hungry. The drink selection is also good. Overall, it's a fun spot that is definitely worth a visit.
I had an amazing experience at this restaurant! As soon as you walk in, you are transported to a unique world filled with rustic decor. The hosts are friendly and knowledgeable, and they really know how to treat their customers. The food is absolutely delicious - we tried the beef and reef and it was cooked perfectly. I highly recommend this place and believe it should be on everyone's must-visit list.
What a great and unique place to have a meal in the Riverland. Excellent pub fare, excellent people that work there and amazing experience from decor to friendly animals including horses, goats, llamas and an emu that let you pay them. Highlight of my Riverland trip :
