The food is good and hearty rather than great but the atmosphere, incredibly friendly and unpretentious service as well as the generous portions made our visit one of the best restaurant experiences we've had in ages. The burgers are enormous and steak was spot on. I'd also recommend the kangaroo and pizza. Dessert isnt their strength but overall we had a fabulous night. One highlight was playing 'spot the weird object' while we waited for our meal. The decor is eclectic to say the least but hits the right note for the theme. We dropped in here one Sunday afternoon when another large party was going on. Everyone kept apologizing to us but we felt it only added to the already fun atmosphere. The karaoke was apparently a one off but we loved it.What a great venue. From the funny humorous signs on the drive in to the quirky fun atmosphere and decor inside it is a great experience. The service was efficient, the food and drinks were very reasonably priced and we loved being able to watch the bbq being cooked inside. There are changes afoot with the new owner (who by the way was born to this job being a fun guy) and it sounds like it will only get even better. A great place to sample local wines.
I can only sense that somehow we picked a bad night. Service, needs to improve. We appeared to be forgotten. It took an hour and a half for our meal to arrive after waiting very long time to receive the menus and then a lenghthy wait for our order to be taken. Two of the steaks were not only small but one did not have any meat on it at all...just fat which is fine but at $35 per plate very disappointing. The place still has the great Mallee Fowl atmosphere but we were also quite cold where we were seated. I am sure it will pick up and we wish the management good luck but sadly we won't return. And as I stated, perhaps we just picked the wrong night.
Visited with a large group on a busy Saturday night & the service was excellent. Loved the idea of serving stubbies in stubble holders! The table service was quick and there was always someone asking if we wanted more drinks or starters as we waited for our meals. Excellent comments regarding the meals from everyone and I really enjoyed my ribeye steak! Very generous serve. We had a group of smokers on our table and the waitress even went outside to get their dessert orders, that's service. We will definitely return & recommend.

Happened to come upon this fantastic place. Signs up the driveway were so funny we kept driving and had to try it out ! Fantastic personal service. Even offered us free overnight camping or a free pick up and drop off from accommodation service. We were warned the home made burger was a whopper which they cut in half and served us on two plates. Delicious. Definitely don't drive past this place. Can't wait to go back. Feels so Aussie right down to the music. Great place
Popped in for lunch, We had the chefs special of shared plate of meats with chips and salad for $60. Well worth it. Meat was cooked on one of the huge grills in the bistro area in front of us, I even took a food selfie, which I never do. New owners, they did a great job. Went out of their way to make us feel welcome. Pity we didn't go for tea and use the courtesy bus. Order from the menu or daily specials. Would recommend as a must see on your travels.
I had lunch here recently with friends, six of us in all and we have nothing but positive things to say about the whole experience. Quirky surrounds, lots to look at and laugh about - excellent host and hostess who entertained us throughout. Good food. Also had the chance to meet staff and they could not have been more personable and pleasant. Well done new owners - we wish you well and look forward to coming back again soon.
Have been driving past this place for years, so decided to pay it a visit today for lunch. This place is quite rustic and very Aussie with lots of quirky items and outdoor fire pit and stage.My wife and I both had steaks, a scotch fillet and rib eye ordered medium rare. They were cooked on a large grill within the eating area and we're the best steaks we have had in years! Will definitely be back again.

Friendly staff. I found the food medioca. My husband had duck which was overcooked and dry. He asked for mashed potato and it wa a miserable swirl on his plate. It has improved slightly since I was there avout 3 years ago but to me it stll has a way to go before I would think about going back.
Frank is excellent, food top notch and atmosphere is all there. Will even pick you up and take you home so no risk of ending the night on a sour note. Will be back!
