My kids are home from college for a long weekend and before they head back we decided to go to Lombardi 's for a family dinner. After apps we ordered dinner. I chose from the daily specials menu the stuffed veal chop. The waiter asked Salad or pasta which that? I chose pasta. What type of pasta and what kind of sauce? I replied rigatoni and vodka. Sunday night stopover driving back from Hamptons to the city. Walked in with the dog in my arms. Tony Soprano looking dude at the bar says no to doggy, but bubbly blonde host suggested the outdoor seating area at the back which was nicely decorated but completely empty. Waitress was fantastic-she accomodated the dog perfectly. He sat propped up on the table like a dog version of Little Lord Fauntleroy. Incidebtslly LLF adored the meatballs, largely because they were out of the top drawer. The tonato basef sauce tasted like they'd been stirring it for 24 hours. Had a reservation and wait was short(less than 15 minutes). Food was delicious. Filet mignons were excellent cuts of meat and cooked perfectly to order. Veal was tender and both the Parmesan and Marsala versions were made very well. Ambience was very nice. A little drafty by the windows on a cold windy night. William was our waiter and was very nice and accommodating. Very good experience enjoyed by the family. Will be coming back.
We got the baked lasagna and veal alla mama Lombardi and stuffed mushrooms and they were all magnificent! The pomegranate martini, chocolate cappuccino and chocolate mousse were rich in flavor and savory. We got lunch at 1pm on a Sunday and the restaurant was nice and quiet. The atmosphere was inviting and the staff were attentive.

I have eaten here several times and it has always been outstanding. The food is delicious and the portions are quite generous. Some favorites include: shrimp parm, veal parm, salmon and risotto, and meatballs. Service is friendly and attentive, without being intrusive. They aim to please, and they never fail. Highly recommend.
The ambiance at Mama Lombardis is lovely and conducive to eating in a fine restaurant. It's immaculate which is a big plus. Our server was very attentive, and a charming disposition. They go out of their way to make your dining experience pleasurable enough to return. You are served like you are the only guest.
