We have driven past this almost daily having moved into the area in the spring but hesitated booking a table as we thought it was super expensive. So we waited until our wedding anniversary and booked. We got a taped message stating that the restaurant was closed for annual holiday but we left a message booking a table for the next open night, which was our anniversary, hoping it would be received. However, we got a call back to confirm, which was a nice. The restaurant is in a large conservatory along the back of the building with lovely views of the gardens. The decor is typically French; stylish and chic. The service was super, attentive without being over-bearing and excellent English if needed. The menu is short, which I always consider a good thing, and the food was excellent. The portion sizes were perfect for three courses and we chose the option to have the recommended glass to compliment each course. We thought this was excellent value at 13 euros for three glasses, two wine and a champagne style cider with the exquisite chocolate dessert. The bill was just over 50 Euros a head for Kir Royale, three excellent courses and wines. You could easily pay this for pub food in England! Although the restaurant was quiet, which is because we were very early by French standards, it still felt special and we had a lovely evening. We will definitely be retuning and consider ourselves lucky to have this lovely restaurant in our area.
Visited on our last day of our week long break. Excellent value for money - 2 course lunch menu for 25 Euros. Staff friendly & attentive, Maitre'd English speaking (always helps!!) The chef / proprietor came out after dinner and chatted to us which was lovely as it gave us the opportunity to thank him for such wonderful food and to ask questions about where the produce is sourced. Would recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting the area.
For a really special occasion, this is fine dining that will blow your socks off. They offer the kind of discrete and attentive service of imaginatively presented dishes that clearly comes from a staff who take their profession seriously. The atmosphere is friendly, the decor impeccable and there's a comfortable little side bar where you can take an aperitif before going to your table. The price reflects the level of refinement.
Superb location, food individually prepared and delicious. service was excellent and freindly. We had the prepared menu for lunch, and the surprise menu for dinner. have to say steak at lunch was to die for and the surprise was very much a delightful one and is recommended. the wine pairings also complimented the food and corse to perfection.as you can tell I hope we had a great time and will be repeat users.
