The Chalet du Manoire is located above 1500m on the Col de Jaman, run by a former Michelin decorated chef who is adamant about sourcing all his ingredients locally. You can get there with the Rocher-du-Maye train from Montreux Jaman stop) and walk for about 25 minutes or by car on a narrow road .Please note it is only accessible between May and October, closed in Winter. They serve traditional homemade dishes like veal sausage with an excellent gratin of potatoes , fondue from the Jaman cheese literally next door, cheese and spinach cakes food and a wine list with decent local wines. You must try their taste du jour , in our cake this was simply the best apple tart I HAVE EVER EATEN BEFORE! it was awesome! The waiter was friendly, the atmosphere simple and they have a Terrasse for sunny days I suggest they replace the ugly plastic chairs with more of the nicely tanned wooden furniture). It was a very nice, authentic experience in the mountains and we will certainly return next year!

On a hot and sunny day we went here for dinner with a group from my work. It's quite a drive up there longer and narrow winding road yet full tarmac so no problems here. When you arrive you find a traditionally decorated building where you are warmly greeted by the owner. She looks after your every wish and serves fresh, local dishes and cheeses. Food is simple but very fresh made from local products. Here you find the peace and quiet and cool (altitude) to get away from the bustling and heated Montreux. The view on the lake is stunning and sunset beautiful. There are also a nice hike or two should you enjoy some exercise before or after eating. The place was quite busy with couples, so maybe best to make a reservation should you plan on going. Go here if you want some peace and quiet and are looking for some honest food and service in a beautiful setting.

We went on a beautiful hike up to Dent de Jaman and after a long walk we stumbled upon this little restaurant near the car parking. They had one of the best, if not the best fondue I’ve ever had. The cheese used is from a next door fromagerie and is unbelievably creamy. Homemade fresh bread and charcuterie. The desert deserves to be mentioned. Amazing « meringues avec double crème » and Mille Feuilles. Totally worth a visit.

4 of us hiked up from Caux -de-Haut on May 1. The road was closed, so imagine our surprise when we came upon this wonderful restaurant that was open! Instead of bread and fruit we had a nice fondue lunch. However, the chef was preparing a rabbit dish. Given his reputation, we had to order it. It was out of this world! The whole experience was one of our top highlights of our first trip to Switzerland.
