A decent pie mash shop, maybe not quite as good as Castles in Camden, or Kelly's on the Roman Rd, but that's just my opinion. I've read other reviews on here some only giving 1 star, and complaining about the pies and the gravy. I'm sure these people are not familiar with traditional pie shops. Pie and mash is historically poor food, made for Londons working class. The pastry used is called water pastry, basically flour water and a bit of seasoning, traditionally with a minced mutton filling. The mutton has been replaced with minced beef these days, but the pastry remains the same. The pies are meant to be rather plain, it's what gives them their character. As for the complaints about the gravy....! If you require gravy on your traditional pie and mash, Traditional pie and mash is not for you.
