This was the first time my family and I ate here and it was a great experience. Customer service was awesome. The waitress was very patient with us and was nice to offer suggestions when we weren't sure what to order. Atmosphere was comfortable and relaxing. One side of the restaurant was a bar, the other side that we were at was for dining in. The usual chips, salad and beans were served while we wait for food. Each dish came out still hot and fresh! The kids menu is an activity paper along with crayons to keep them busy, and their food is the perfect amount of portion for them. I'd eat here again the next time I crave authentic Mexican food!
ordered a fish taco with my meal. a fish taco should encompass a wide range of textures and tastes. it should be spicy, sweet, crispy and umami. this taco had fish. that is it. otherwise, nothing. also no crispy. I ordered a #12 with a fish taco. The enchilada tasted like an enchilada, the chili relano tasted like a chili relano. the taco tasted... meh, the tostado was lost. there was nothing crispy in the meal. No crispy tostado, no crispy coleslaw in the fish taco. In fact, the only thing good about the visit to Puerto Virata was the Margareta I drank while I waited for my meal. Credit to the bartender.
I was quite disappointed with the food today. The tamale was extremely dry, and the rice and beans were completely lacking in flavor. My husband ordered the chicken wings as an appetizer; the last time we had them, they were delicious, but today they were not great at all. They were smothered in a sauce that made them unappetizing. The highlight of the meal was the blackberry margarita. The service was slow, but they were busy, so I understand that. On a positive note, our server was very friendly.
The food here is alright but not a must have in my opinion. I do like the tacos but for some reason no matter which dish I order I just always feel like it lacks flavor in my opinion. Everyone is always very friendly and they do have good drinks. The restaurant itself is clean, they play good music, and it is pretty spacious in there as well. Réservez une table maintenant
If you're considering dining here, I recommend you think twice. The margaritas are priced at $18, and you can hardly taste any tequila in them. Overall, everything is overpriced and below average in quality. While the server was friendly, it didn't compensate for the lackluster food and drinks.
