This restaurant was recommended by our host as the best Spanish eatery on Camposol, I can only think this was the case in the 1970's. The sign outside even looks like it hasn't been replaced since then and the set menu was more Southend than Spain... After being told we couldn't sit down in the completely empty restaurant for ten minutes (I assume the barman was waiting for seven o'clock!! we then had to endure a local drinker staring at us the whole time we waited until gone 7pm (more than the allotted ten minutes lol . The barman it turns out was also masquerading as the waiter as we were finally seated in a sectioned off part of the large dining area. The food is cheap on the set menu but is very simple. Chicken and chips came out with no garnish, salad or anything. The camembert starter wasn't even cooked all the way through. The bread and butter also appeared on the bill without us asking for it or knowing what it might cost. The barman/waiter proceeded to be very grumpy and literally throw cutlery at us for three courses. The restaurant was also so hot in October one of my party had to step outside for some air. This place is obviously purely used now as a meeting place for either swimming or tennis as most people appeared to be drinking rather than eating. Two more groups eventually joined us for dinner but the service to them was just as embarrassing and I thought the delightful barman might blow when a small girl knocked over some red wine on another table. I decided to pay cash as didn't think this guy even knew what a credit card was and had to wait while he fished out the right change from his pocket. For the rest of our stay we avoided this place and made the short walk across the bridge to Sector B of Camposol where service is much better I would suggest anyone would do the same in future...

We have visited Mariano's on and off for 12 years, The menu del noche is excellent and has a good variety of options. Unfortunately these are the same options that have been on the menu for all that time. The menu hasn't changed, the standard of food hasn't changed, the staff hasn't changed, and value for money hasn't changed. It's a lot less popular in the evening, but in July you almost have to book, but not quite. Sometimes you'll be the only people eating. Try it, you won't be disappointed.

In this area a lot of restaurants and bars cater for the British, which is great, but it is in Spain and I think its good to support our Spanish friends as well, they do some good tapas here not always a lot of choice but still a choice and some Spanish workers come here always a good sign of cheap but decent food, also they have shows on at certain dates throughout the summer but we have yet to visit one, all in all worth a visit,

Simple food but well done ... ok the menu does not change but they are flexible and will change things if requested. We went on a Saturday night and only one other table taken when we got there getting busy by the time we left. Good value at 12 Euro for the evening menu which includes small beer or glass of wine and coffee (some places charge extra). Lone time since our last visit and we enjoyed the meal and service
