Mario's De La Mesa

My buddy recommended this place and went with my brother and his wife and my buddy's family. Located in a house in a regular neighborhood with a rather large parking lot. Food tasted like good old fashioned authentically prepared Mexican food. Chips n salsa were actually excellent without having them tainted with cilantro. : Only hiccup that occurred was that I wanted a side order of shrimp enchiladas ala carte and was told I had to get the full plate with no exceptions. Everyone enjoyed their food without complaint which doesn't happen very often. For sure will be back!

Went to lunch with five friends on a Monday. Sat in the patio with umbrellas and an ocean breeze (believe it or not) about 80 degrees. I ordered Shrimp del gallo, excellent , 12 good sized shrimp in a sauce with mushrooms and onions, served hot. Served with very good rice and beans. All of my five friends ordered different dishes. All were very pleased. The service was excellent, helpful, friendly and orderly. I would definitely recommend this Mexican restaurant.

This is only my second time here and I would definitely recommend checking out. Authentic Mexican cuisine with good ambiance and friendly staff. Today I got the Chile Colorado which was really flavorful and not spicy even though I like heat in my food. The dish comes with beans and rice along with chips and salsa which was not spicy either. It did leave me wanting more and curved my craving for Chile Colorado like my mom used to make.

I've been going here for 20 years since I was a little kid. It's been perfect every time. Awesome food, great service, and fun waiters/waitresses. It's always a special time coming to Mario's and the new owner, a server here himself for many years, has kept true to Mario's legacy. Unlike some offensive comments have said : A true classic in La Mesa with a great atmosphere and even better food! Réservez une table maintenant

This restaurant is very cute. The outside is attractive and it has a nice patio. We had a nice view from our seat inside. We also enjoyed the rice and beans as well as the chips and salsa. Unfortunately, the main courses were not very flavorful and could have done with a good deal more seasoning, particularly the meat. The staff was great and we had a nice time.

Delicious every time and it just gets better. Flavorful balanced palate of tastes and colors. The food is light and not heavy or greasy, you wont regret this meal. Every element on the plate is fresh and carefully prepared you must try Marios.
