"Our son and daughter in law took us here for a special dinner one night during our visit. I am not a 'foodie ' and I am fairly picky about what I eat so lots of the gourmet touches were lost on me and I had a hard time picking anything from the menu as I have lots of food dislikes but the rest of my group was delighted with their selections as were the tables near us. It was fun watching the tableside ceaser salad being made and meeting one of the owners. And I have to admit the service was impeccable."

this fine restaurant, possibly the most expensive restaurant in anchorage, was a complete disappointment from beginning to end. we will never go back. I made a reservation for weeks and let them know that it was our jubilee and required a special table. Although we had a reservation, we waited for 45 minutes on our table, in hard chairs at the doorstep that was frozen. (it was mid-October in alaska) they would think that the owner would have offered us a glass of champagne during this time. or something he has to wait, but he didn't. when we went to our place, we could hardly get through the tables, they were so crammed together. it was so loud in the restaurant that we had to scream. the waiters and waiters had all on different fashions of the dress as if they were walking on the street. we couldn't tell who worked there and who didn't. the first waitress who approached us after we had waited for fifteen minutes for a glass of water finally came up and asked: “Do they know what they want to get?” classic. they would think we celebrate our jubilee, a glass champagne or something. when we went to simon and they were moving, they had a rose on the table, metallic hearts over the table scattered, a glass champagne and also sent a huge piece of wrench lime pie to us. very nice of them. we'll spend a fortune and get mixed. so we ordered prix fixe. the scallop appetizer, who was supposed to be “pan seared”, was raw, still slightly frozen disgusting. the 2nd curs was a tiny canneloni, which was 1 inch long (and not very good) as we eat, several server passed. I'd rather have one. the bark wellington was ok, and the dessert that came with the prix fixe was a tiny, unimaginable cheaper Mexican flan. it was the worst food and service I ever had in anchorage, downstairs. I would give it 0 stars if I could. you have to say I would never go back, even free.

An amazing restaurant in downtown Anchorage! With only 14 tables situated in an historic house you must have a reservation. We were fortunate to get an 8:45 reservation for our only night in Anchorage. Co owner Van Hale met us at the door and showed us to our table. We ordered a couple glasses of wine from their extensive list, Van’s famous Caesar Salad, Macadamia Crusted Halibut for my husband, and Filet Mignon for me. Shortly after ordering, Van Hale placed a cart beside our table and proceeded to make our Caesar Salad. I balked a bit at the anchovies but chef assured me I wouldn’t taste them in the dressing. He was, of course, correct. He also presented two glasses of a white wine which he insisted would bring out the flavors in the salad bite of salad, sip of wine. Again, spot on. When I inquired about the type of wine he replied Gewurztraminer which happens to be one of our favorites. The entrees were perfectly prepared and wonderfully flavorful. My husband said his halibut was the best he had tasted. My steak was awesome! For dessert we split a Crème Brûlée and capped it off with 2 glasses of Graham’s 40 year port. Wow! You have to go here!!

I took my girlfriend to Marks Brothers cafe for her birthday because my first choice was closed. She ordered a bottle of wine from a local producer the Bell's winery providing a soft background to a great Caesar Salad prepared table side. I ordered the scallops a new addition to the menu. My girlfriend ordered the smoked duck. The Caesar was delicious with a EVO that was very creamy. Next came my scallops with noodles and roasted cauliflower florets. The scallops were perfectly done but the noodles were inedible with to much cayenne the raised a welt on my tongue. The Duck breast was perfectly prepared with crispy skin and five Chinese spice flavors the stir fried noodles were a real treat. The staff were great and the cost was reasonable, I just wish they had taken the hint that my noodles were inedible when I said they wer to spicy.

test this place based on reviews seen. I give this place 4 stars. the negatiw for me waited after the appetizers long for dinner, but it is also a small place that was quite busy at the time of our session. second negatiw, both dinners were not hot only warm. the dinner we tried were the Kodiak scallops and the cured. the appetizer was Halibut scam that were amazing, and were served hot. we tried the tiramisu and carrot cake and both were great! was friendly and attentive. in any case a place to try if they were not here.
