I made an order from an old menu as I was ordering on the telephone. I ordered a wandering dragon dish to find it was another dish with beef which is religious to us. This horrified me and I spoke to the girl who took the order and she told me 1. Ive ordered from an old menu 2. Wandering dragon she was not aware of this dish 3. So she made an assumption for us the customer) and ordered a new dish which contained all the meats beef, pork, chicken and prawns) possible. My husband during his meal had to take back the dish as we do not have beef products in our home nor eat it. The girl was not helpful at all. I will never eat at this place again.
From the moment we walked into the restaurant to the moment we left, chaos was the name of the game. We had placed an order over the phone for collection at 7:30, only to find out upon arrival that they only accepted cash. Despite the nearby ATM, there was no clear system in place for collection and it was extremely hectic. Many customers were returning with incomplete takeaway orders. Despite asking about our order three times, we didn't receive it until 7:50. The quality of the food was not the best when we finally got it, and we will not be returning or recommending this restaurant in the future.
I decided to try Ma's Cottage for something different. It turned out to be a big mistake and a waste of £20. Our meal consisted of a large bowl of sugary dishes, essentially just pineapple syrup. The sweet and sour flavor was overwhelmingly sweet from the pineapple syrup, and the crispy shredded beef was drowned in the sugar. It was basically inedible unless you really enjoy the taste of pineapple sugar.
A great Chinese takeaway in Birstall food is always fantastic, fresh, hot and fast. We got a family takeaway on New Year's Eve and it was just as tasty and quick as always, with fortune cookies too. Very friendly service, thanks for letting me try out my beginner's Chinese! The portions are BIIIIIG so it's very good value for money.

I have had food from Ma’s kitchen, birstall before and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Tonight’s meal was by far the worst I’ve ever had, To the extreme where we just couldn’t eat it. It was disgusting. It tasted as tho it was warmed up from a week ago. Never again !!!!
Disappointing. I have always enjoyed getting takeout from this restaurant, but my last three orders ended up being thrown away. The food was overly spicy (and not in a good way). I have been a customer here for about 30 years, but I am unsure if I will return.
Had fast home delivery service every time. Never had a problem with the food and will continue to use them. I so far had no problems so not much more I can see other than good food, good service.
Quick, friendly delivery with piping hot tasty food. Very impressive. The king prawn fried rice was delicious as were the chilli salt chips.
