We had the vegan samosas and chicken masala curry. The samosa was good. My girlfriend didn’t love them because she doesn’t like peas (I’ve been trying to fix that for years). I thought the samosas were great, crispy and well cooked on the outside and the herb sauce that came with it was delicious, the perfect flavor punch on the samosa. The chicken masala was incredible. The chicken was tender and juicy and not overcooked. The flavor was rich, deep and delicious. I actually can’t get over just how good this flavor was, it really did it for me. The naan was thick and chewy and soaked up the sauce nicely. We had this to go so it lost some of its fresh crisp straight out of the oven but it was...
The Shrimp Vindaloo was also good; I chose the spicy level and received 8 to 10 jumbo shrimp. It was flavorful, but again, I wished the sauce was thicker to adhere to the rice. Overall, I will definitely return! It's just a 10-minute drive from me, and the service was excellent. If you're in a hurry, I recommend calling ahead, as we waited about 35 minutes for our three large dishes. There are only about 4-5 parking spots available, but the wait was reasonable given that we arrived near closing time. Next time, I might just order two dishes: the samosas and garlic naan!
Absolutely the best samosa I've ever tasted! The coating was light and crispy without being greasy, and the filling was bursting with flavor. I definitely should have ordered more than one. The owner is incredibly kind and readily answers any questions you might have. I wholeheartedly give it a 10 out of 10 and highly recommend it. If you have dietary restrictions, there are excellent vegan options available as well. I enjoyed this meal for lunch, and it was reasonably priced at around $10–20 per person.
The best Indian food around Portland. I'm from the south and I love spicy food that has flavor and a lot of Indian food places have spice but it's not flavorful just very spicy. But that's not the case for masala box, it has excellent flavor for the spiciest level. Great proportions for a great price. I will definitely eat here again, not only is the food amazing but the customer service is great not only do they care about making great food they care about great service. Every time I place a take out order they usual ask me if its okay that the 30-40 minutes wait. And although the wait time is very disappointing because now I have to deal with a constant watery mouth FOR THE NEXT 30-40 minutes I have learned that good things take time. This place is no exception. This place is heaven on earth!!! Amazing food!
