wow! this place is a shell of his former self. we chose it for the place. halfway between us and our daughter's house. in the course of the years we had many beautiful meal times. When we moved the empty parking space, we were shocked. next said a sign on the door “no breakfast mon- Fri” which diner in jersey does not serve breakfast? at weekends they serve breakfast buffet. the buffet was nothing special. the price was ok. our server was nice. I am not sure how they will keep this place open.
Joe was our waiter and he was excellent. he brought us to fill and others to ask for them. I would go back to bring him back to us. the pork chops were delicious, but the crab cakes with very dry wild rice were not so good. I understand the difficulties that the restaurant mastoris has for covid and staff. However, the mastoris kitchen has to do a better job to prepare their food. the menu was cut back by the previous years. I wouldn't tell you not to go, but don't order the crabs.
Dinner was terrible. Calimari was over fried, looked as small as bread crumbs. Orders came out wrong. Mozzarella sticks were under cooked and unable to pick up. “Fresh” salsa was from a jar. Caesar salad was wilted and drenched in dressing. Stuffing in Turkey dinner was the consistency of cement. We had reservations for 4:15, did not get seated until almost 5p, right next to the kitchen doors. We had a sleeping baby with us.
This was a favorite restaurant for years for my family. We haven’t been there due to pandemic for about 2 years. We returned today and we were so disappointed. The food was horrible, service bad and it took a very long time to get our food which came out of order- soup came last after entree. We asked for more bread, never got it! We found out from the waiter that the restaurant was sold! Explained it all! Very poor!!
