While there are many well-executed Westernized or Korean-influenced Japanese eateries, Matsuri delivers a meal that is not only delicious and fresh but also thoughtfully prepared, evoking memories of home. In Pasadena, it’s my top recommendation. Authentic Japanese-run restaurants at this price are becoming increasingly rare, so I urge you to support this gem! As for parking, be aware that the restaurant tends to fill up quickly, often before the parking lot reaches its limit.

Totally disapointed.Ordered some nigiri pieces with california rolls.Some of the fish cuts were not fresh, they were soft.The soy sauce tasted way salty and strange.At the end 31$ for a dinner I better had avoided.Not recommended.
Awful service! I arrived for lunch at 1:20 PM but was turned away because they were closed. There was no explanation, even though their posted hours indicate they close at 2:00 PM.

I visited here for the first time, and it was absolutely amazing! We'll definitely be returning! The service was excellent, and the food was spectacular!
Simply the best place for sushi in Pasadena. Love the warm and homey feel of the restaurant, and the food is top quality and thoughtfully made.
Great local sushi spot for some udon and sushi. A bit over priced and it is about $8.50 for a California roll but the udon is fresh and tasty.

Great sushi and tempura. Absolutely authentic place each time we get here it feels like we are back in Kyoto!
The prices are high, and the portions are small. There are definitely better options in Pasadena!
