My wife and I are visiting Grove, Oklahoma for a couple of weeks and have been exploring local restaurants. We had dinner at Matt's Place tonight and truly enjoyed our experience! We started with the fried pickles appetizer. My wife chose the chicken Alfredo with a tossed salad, while I went with the chicken fried steak, based on all the fantastic reviews. Both meals were absolutely delicious! For sides, I had green beans and fried okra, which were outstanding. Oh yeah, fantastic breakfast! The chicken fried steak was absolutely delicious, and the gravy was perfectly peppery—just how good breakfast gravy should be. Don’t skip the waffle; you’ll definitely be glad you ordered it. Beatriz was attentive and very friendly, making the experience even better. Overall, a great visit.
However, I have to mention the men’s restroom, which was a complete disaster. It looked like it hadn’t been cleaned for weeks, maybe even months. This isn’t an exaggeration. Clean restrooms are just as important as the dining area, especially for handwashing. Because of this, I have to lower my rating by one star.
Although we?ve lived here 2 years this was our first trip to Matt?s Place. Small, cozy diner but the staff was so friendly and really hustling taking care of the diners Amber was our waitress and she was fantastic! We ordered an appetizer, two entreesand 2 iced teas. The fried portobello mushrooms were top notch and I highly recommend. I ordered the chicken fried chicken andhubby ordered the chicken fried steak, both came with 2 sides and were fresh, hot and delicious. I?d definitely be interested incoming back for dinner or give breakfast a try.
I enjoyed a fantastic breakfast at Matt's Place on Sunday morning. The staff, including the management, were fast, friendly, and attentive. I ordered the full breakfast menu item—2 eggs, hash browns, bacon, and French toast—and everything was absolutely perfect! I highly recommend Matt's Place if you're ever at Grand Lake and looking for a great meal. Plus, they offer chocolate milk if you're interested!
