I stumbled upon this restaurant while looking for Masala dosa in Sheffield, and what a discovery it was! They serve authentic South Indian food that is cooked to perfection and served with warmth. The Fish 65 and Medhu vada starters were delicious, with the fish being light and flaky and the vadas crispy and well-spiced, accompanied by perfect chutneys. The beef fry was cooked in the Travancore style and the fluffy aapams were a great accompaniment. The Masala dosa was good, though it could have had a bit more filling, but the sambar and chutney were excellent. Situated in the heart of Sheffield city centre, this restaurant offers street parking in nearby streets. The ambiance is pleasant, with friendly staff providing prompt service. The menu features a wide selection of South Indian cuisine, particularly focusing on Kerala cuisine. Every dish we sampled was excellent. Our dining experience was fantastic and we look forward to returning in the future.
We visited Maveli for dinner today. Service was quick and wait staff was courteous. No one asked us about food allergies before taking our order. Papadom with chutney was good. Dosa was okay and soft/soggy. They can make the dosas crisper. Onion Bhaji was a bit too salty today. Chicken Biryani was well prepared .
Excellent South Indian cuisine with extensive veg/vegan options as well. We were a large group of friends and we were welcomed by the friendly staff who did a fantastic job of keeping on top of all our orders. Everyone enjoyed their food, would highly recommend!

This restaurant is fantastic. The food is absolutely delicious, and it's a refreshing change to eat South Indian cuisine. I particularly enjoy their dosas. The staff is friendly and accommodating. I would definitely go back and highly recommend it to friends.
Important note: Maveli is SOUTH Indian and so don't expect to find tandoori dishes and many of the old anglicised regulars so many places serve. Many Indian families eat there the very best recommendation there could be.
Fantastic choice of vegan options including homemade vegan chutneys to go with the poppadom starter. Friendly atmosphere and really helpful staff will definitely go again next time we visit our daughter at uni!!
Portion of Paneer curry was very small. We found only 4 paneer pieces and rest curry. small bottle of Cola 3.50 very expenses same whiskey small 6.50Staff were good Not happy with rotty

Home Cozy restaurant and nice food. Some delays and misunderstandings in the food delivery, but it was rectified quickly.
