"We went here to try it out. Place is full but staffs were polite to find a seat for 2. We ordered and received our food after 15 minutes. Food is expensive. Service is alright and we tipped. Washrooms are clean. Atmosphere is good. Food tastes good. Their "Leche Flan" is too sweet."

At my previous job, I worked with many Filipino people and had previously tried home-cooked Pancet, Palabok, Bicol Express and others. When I finally went to Max's of Manila however, I was introduced to a wider variety of different dishes, some I had never even heard of. It was a treat!We had actually gone one Friday night, at 8:45 and the restaurant was still packed and busy. They said they were closing in 15 minutes, so we opted not to disturb them and came back the following week (we went late because I had to pick my parents up from a late flight). I'll make this as brief as possible. Food was over cooked, and ironically; cold when it was served. Very poor and slow service....and the workers couldn't care less. The restaurant was full, but tables had a slow turnaround, as people stayed a long time, so not all that busy'.I called today to speak to the manager and have a 'heart to heart' a nice conversation and explain how we felt. (80$ for 2 people for a cold and over cooked dinner)She had no time. 'Sir I am busy, call another day'. Literally what she said.Leadership is the real problem. This is not the first time I came here, there is no doubt about it that the food is good but from the last time I was here the portion of the food become lesser and pricier and the Fried Chicken become smaller and dry. If they continue skimping the portion of there dishes and keeping the price higher, there would be no more customer will go to them. I rather go to Kabalen the food is more tastier and the price is a bargain compare to their restaurant; and the ambiance is good too. Kabalen has the 2nd floor and its fully renovated. I rather go to Kabalen if they keep on putting their price up. The service is ok but could be better. 3 Star for this restaurant.
The taste is average and a bit on the pricey side. We were at the Dufferin location recently, it wasn't busy so food arrived within 15 minutes. Chopsuey veggies were overcooked and floating in sauce. Pancit canton noodles were comparable to the ready-to-cook noodles you buy in the store. Kare-kare a bit too much for $20, not enough to feed 2. Buko juice...$6.00, really? Sinigang, I will never order this again because it just doesn't taste right. Unless I crave for crispy pata, lechon kawali or their fried chicken, never will we go to Max's again. I am the most considerate customer and knowing it's a holiday, it is fully understood that they're pretty busy. but the service was awful! had to wait in line for almost an hour (i totally understand this) had to wait for taken to be ordered for 40 mins. the worst part is our calamari came with no cutleries. we asked 4x if we can have set of cutleries. but it did not arrived for at least another 30 mins. food was not even served yet. arrived at the restaurant 1pm, food served 2:55pm to be exact. worst service ever! avoid Max during holidays.
Max's is authentically Filipino food that was delivered to our table hot and fresh. Saturday night was quite popular for the restaurant but we were seated fairly quickly. If you want an inexpensive trip to Manila, go to Max's. While some of the staff seemed like they were wandering around, this didn't take away from the quality of food that we ate. Authentic drinks like Filipino beer and coconut water with coconut in the glass were lovely.
Having had great meals at different Max Philippine locations, I got a craving and decided to visit this franchise. It did not start off well at all. Walking in it did not resemble a Max restaurant or at least The ones I knew. Unappealing is best summation. The waitress overlooked my table to the point I had to ask for service. Had better home cooked food then eating at Max's. Ordered Pata and Kare Kare for dinner. Both dishes were disappointing and expensive. Pata has no taste, looked like the pork hock was cooked to death then deep fried. Kare Kare has pieces of beef added rather than just ox tail. Small quantity of vegetables seems to be an afterthought and were not cooked properly. Overall an expensive but it disappointing dinner for two. Réservez une table maintenant
The food here is fantastic! My somewhat picky kids had no complaints at all. I don't think we could have gone wrong no matter what we ordered.Our server Mark, was a fountain of information and the food came pretty quickly after we ordered. The facility is clean and well lit. The kids even loved the bathrooms. When next we are in town, there's no way we miss another visit.
