Mcgills Bakery - Réservation de table

We stayed in an Airbnb across the street from McGill's, a pub, a kebab shop and a bakery with a long history, formerly known as Malone Bakeries since 1953. It is a favorite late night spot for taxi drivers, late night workers and pub-goers, open until 4 am. The shop is simple with concrete floors and minimal signage, offering a variety of pies such as steak, mince, mac n cheese, and chicken curry, as well as rolls, buns, and pastries. The pies are delicious with perfect pastry and high quality meat, especially the steak pie. McGill's is always busy late into the night, attracting those looking for a tasty snack after a night of drinking. I wish there was a McGill's nearby now that I am back...

I often think locals forget what a rarity it is to have a bakers open from 9pm until 4am. We visited at midnight and there was a queue out of the door. Lovely soft freshly baked bread rolls, delicious macaroni cheese pies and bran scones. Whether you are a visitor to the City or a local I would definitely recommend a visit, this hidden gem of a place is what tradition is all about.

Best traditional pies in Edinburgh. The owner also runs a butchers, so the meats used are both high quality and ethically/locally sourced. The owner is a great guy, very hard working, generous and very friendly. I always recommend this place to my friends and family. Fully deserving of a 5* rating.

Best bakers in Edinburgh IMHO. I've been going here since 1991 Malones back then) however tragically they've had to close down as haven't been able to recruit a replacement baker... another Brexit tragedy. Hope the other excellent staff found jobs. :

One of those rare neighbourhood old school businesses, a simple bakery selling brilliant pies and rolls and it's open till 4 a.m . Whenever I'm in Edinburgh I will make sure to stop buy and get some steak pies.

The pies, bridies, sausage rolls are really great, with good portions of meat and lovely pastry. The morning rolls are truly without equal, anywhere, and I have tried many morning rolls!!
