Mekong River is the place to go for super friendly and homestyle Thai cooking and service! Australian-Thai food can often be outrageously sweet and often with added msg. I've found that Mekong's home-style means that the dishes are low in sugar and msg when compared with other Thai outlets in Canberra, and is a very refreshing change from the standard Australian-Thai experience. I also found their menu more varied that other similar places.

My partner and I had dinner here last night 29/9 we had satay chicken and curry puffs as the entree and paid Thai with prawns and beef pad siew. The curry puffs were to die for and my partner kept raving about the pad Thai. We will definitely be back to try other dishes
After a morning out, we stopped in for a late lunch at this restaurant. The menu had a wide selection to choose from and the food was fantastic! Service was very quick and the staff were friendly.
I am always greeted with friendly service here, the food is always good, the takeaway lunch boxes are good value and dining here feels like you are part of the family enjoying a home cooked meal.

I have two favorite restaurants in canberra and this is one of them. there is a deep taste that they get here is rare. chu recommend cheese curry and green pfefferkorn stir fry
Amazing Pad Thai - big serve, but it was so good I wanted twice as much!
My husband had the honey chicken which was also yummy.
Very fast & friendly service.
It's in a strip mall with dozens of other Asian restaurants but make no mistake: this is the only one that ships laksas cross-country.
