I lived in Japan when I was younger, and Menkoi takes me back to that. I've been eating here for almost 2 years and I have been nothing but thrilled with every bite. Food is phenomenal, the owner is amazing, they know what they're doing. Nothing but good things to say about this place! And I know it's a ramen house, but guys, try the curry! I used to go to Coco Ichiban Curry house 3-4 times a week, Menkoi's curry is BY FAR my favorite! Everything on the menu is fantastic. (Even my picky kids love it! Customers for life!
I had a great experience at this restaurant! I ordered the Chicken Ramen #8 and was pleased with the generous portion of noodles and tasty broth for the price of only $7.50. I hope they consider adding more seafood options to the menu instead of just offering pork, chicken, and beef. The layout of the restaurant is a bit cramped and seating is limited. The self-serve drink machine is awkwardly placed in the line where customers are ordering. Overall, this place is worth a visit if you are in the area.
Like many reviews here, I lived in Japan also (okinawa to be exact) and Ramen was always a comfort food for us. We can find many restaraunts that try to mimic Japanese Ramen, but not all succeed. My favorite is Tongotsu and as soon as I saw the menu, I couldn't wait to try this place out. They did not disappoint. I was only in the area for one night, otherwise I would visit this place often.
Menkoi both in Greenville and in charleston has been the only place with ramen that tastes like the real deal I had in Japan. Walking in, the restaurant smells just like the cafeteria from the university I went to near Osaka. Also, superb service, delicious food, and giant servings (one bowl is enough for two meals, at least). This place is awesome! Réservez une table maintenant
Lived in northern Japan for three years in the seventies. My son found Menkoi and introduced me...he likes the ramen (all of them) I always get the curry rice and chicken..the very first time as the dish was set before me the aroma sent me back to Japan...and the taste is delish, TR is a long drive but the best little restaurant in Greenville.
