We were hoping to find an authentic German "gasthaus" in a smaller town or city. Sometimes these places look charming but the are, in truth, on the mediocre side. Not this one. It features evening service daily except Monday and extra hours for Sunday afternoon. Local people and families frequent the Merzbacher Hof. The menus is not extensive, it features a variety of meats (including horse sauerbraten seasonally), a nice bar with three beers on tap plus wines and liqueurs. The outdoor dining is wonderful on a mild summer night. On weekends you may need a reservation. English is spoken by some of the staff and you will be made to feel welcome.

Was taken as a visit and was curious what awaits me. Eating was just cream! Really 5 star kitchen. Super delicious, everything uncomplicated, operation more than nice and very service first cream. If I'm back in the area, I'll be happy to come back.

Excellent food at reasonable prices with excellent service, here just fits everything. Definitely recommended!
